The Town of Clayton employs more than 340 full-time staff in areas including police, fire, and electric utilities. Duties & Responsibilities Updates and reviews GIS databases for utilities and public works to ensure completeness and accuracy.

This position is responsible for the field collection and verification of GIS data for the Town's water, wastewater and stormwater systems. Work includes GNSS field data collection, editing GIS data from the asset management work order system, performing spatial analysis on data as requested and creating maps for use by Public Works personnel and other Town staff. Updates GIS databases based on AutoCAD and by digitizing georeferenced engineering plans.

Designs, develops, and maintains GIS applications, dashboards, web maps, and mobile GIS solutions for internal and external users. Creates custom reports, data visualizations, and analytical products for decision-making purposes. Provides advanced technical support for GIS users throughout the organization.

Assists with the development and delivery of GIS training programs. Accuracy and attention to detail in entering data is critical in performing the work. Work is performed under the general supervision of the GIS Manager and is evaluated through conferences, project outcomes, reports, customer service, and the effectiveness of GIS services delivered to Town departments.

Collects, imports, queries, reviews and exports departmental GIS information. Digitizes engineering plans such as permit, construction, and as-builts drawings for all Town development projects. Conducts field checks of utilities and operates GNSS equipment to verify validity of data.

Transfers geographic data from work order system, prepared maps, GNSS collection device and as-built data received from developers or other agencies into the Town's GIS system. Performs advanced spatial analysis to support utility operations, public works, public safety, parks and recreation, and other Town functions. Corrects and edits GIS data by updating and correcting attributes and positional accuracy of spatial data features; creates additional data layers as needed.

Designs, creates and maintains maps and reproduces GIS maps from the system. Writes queries and creates various report for use by Public Works staff and other Town personnel. Educates co-workers and Town staff about GIS and its efficient use.

Maintains GIS and GNSS software and equipment. Development and maintenance of web GIS applications. Assists the GIS Manager with ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Portal administration.

Performs other duties as required. Special Requirements, Education & Experience Geographic Information Systems principles, practices, and methodologies. ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and associated products.

Geodatabase design, administration, and maintenance. Spatial analysis and cartographic principles. GIS application development and web mapping technologies.

SQL databases and database management principles. GPS and mobile data collection systems. Municipal operations, utility infrastructure, and asset management concepts.

Project management principles and practices. Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree in Geography, GIS, Planning, Engineering, or related major field preferred. Five years of related GIS mapping experience.
