Geospatial Sales Manager information

What does a geospatial sales manager do?

A Geospatial Sales Manager is responsible for selling geospatial products and solutions, such as GIS software, mapping data, and location-based services, to clients in various industries. They identify potential customers, present technical demonstrations, negotiate contracts, and manage client relationships. Additionally, they often collaborate with technical teams to ensure customer needs are met and stay updated on industry trends to offer the most relevant solutions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a geospatial sales manager?

To thrive as a Geospatial Sales Manager, you need a solid understanding of geospatial technologies, sales strategies, and often a degree in geography, GIS, or a related field. Familiarity with GIS software (like Esri ArcGIS), CRM platforms, and sales analytics tools is typically expected, along with relevant sales certifications. Strong negotiation, relationship-building, and presentation skills set exceptional candidates apart in this role. These skills are crucial for effectively matching client needs with technical solutions, driving business growth, and maintaining long-term customer relationships.

How does a geospatial sales manager typically collaborate with technical teams during the sales process?

A Geospatial Sales Manager works closely with technical teams such as GIS analysts, solution engineers, and product specialists to understand client requirements and present tailored solutions. During the sales cycle, they often coordinate technical demonstrations, respond to RFPs, and ensure that proposed solutions align with both client needs and product capabilities. Effective collaboration is crucial for addressing complex client queries, customizing offerings, and ensuring a smooth handover during implementation. This cross-functional teamwork not only strengthens client relationships but also helps drive successful project outcomes.

Job description

Company Description

Mapbox is a mapping platform for developers. Our building blocks make it easy to integrate location into any mobile or online application. We want to change the way people move around cities and understand our planet.

From finding a coffee spot on Foursquare, to pinning a vacation spot on Pinterest, to geo-tagging notes in Evernote - we do the geo stuff so developers can focus on building their app. Mapbox is the foundation for other platforms, letting enterprises analyze their data, drone companies publish flyovers, real estate sites visualize properties, satellite companies process cloud-free imagery, and insurance companies track assets.

Job Description

We're looking for a sharp, focused individual who wants to grow Mapbox as a business. You should be ready to dig into our tools, educate and learn from existing and potential customers, and help drive Mapbox adoption across a wide range of industries.

We're building the geospatial platform of the future, and our users do incredible work. You'll help organizations large and small understand how and why to use Mapbox, whether they're tracking deforestation with satellites, analyzing millions of electoral votes, or helping commuters choose between walking, driving, or riding a bike.

Your role

  • Get to know and love the Mapbox platform. Your enthusiasm should be contagious.
  • Create, prioritize, and qualify business opportunities. You'll be the advance scout for the business team.
  • Develop workflows and content to systematize your work. We're building an outbound sales process from the ground up.
  • Nail the details of the sales cycles, from managing contacts and calendars to tracking deals and running reports.
  • Attend conferences and other events to spread Mapbox love.
  • Help us design an incentive system that motivates you to run fast and grow quickly.

Qualifications

Qualities we're looking for

  • Rock solid written and verbal communications skills.
  • Eagerness to talk to strangers, especially strangers with a geospatial problem to solve.
  • Speed and meticulousness paired with empathy. You'll often be an organization's first contact with Mapbox.
  • Technical savvy and/or a hunger to learn.
  • Devotion to systematization, repeatability, efficiency, and measurement. Processes and data are key to how we work.
  • Enterprise sales or marketing experience a major plus but not required.
Additional Information

Sound like you?

  • Send your Linkedin profile and any public examples of your written work.
  • Sketch out goals for your first six months at Mapbox. How will you measure success?
  • Sales is an art and a science. Describe your approach to the process.
  • Read up on our blog and developer pages. Hit us up with questions or something you were inspired to build.

All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
