Northern Star (Pogo) LLC has a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Summer 2025 Mine Survey Intern at our world-class Pogo operation in Alaska on a rotational camp schedule.

What's the role?

The Mining Surveyor Intern reports to the Chief Mining Surveyor and the primary role includes assisting with operational and surveying requirements. This includes other tasks and projects under guidelines and procedures set out by the Chief Mining Surveyor, within the Mining Department.

What are we looking for?

You'll be a highly motivated individual who will display behavior consistent to our Northern Star Values of Safety, Teamwork, Accountability, Respect and Results (STARR), looking to work with the business for the long term and be an integral part in its future growth and development.

What you'll be Doing:

  • Under the supervision of a Senior Surveyor/Mine Surveyor, you'll create Mining Memos for the direction of operational activities - including development instructions, drilling set outs, development as-builts, etc.
  • Conducting various stope scanning activities
  • Install directional lasers for mine development
  • Mark-up drill control paint lines for production drilling
  • Participate in department meetings by raising pertinent issues and providing follow-up on actions as required.
  • Any project work that is assigned
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in all work areas

What We are Looking for:

  • Progressing towards a Surveying/Geomatics/GIS Degree from a recognized Tertiary Institution
  • Extensive Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with other Microsoft programs
  • Ability to work in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Excellent data analysis skills
  • Display a clear commitment to safety, health and responsible environmental management
  • Current Driver's License

The Details:

Working a 28 days on,14 days off at a remote campsite. Interns will start in May and work through the summer, ending in August/September depending on school schedules.

Extreme conditions, including but not limited to extreme and changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.

Employees are required to stay on site at the company provided camp during the work rotation. Camp facilities provide dining service, games room, exercise & weight room, sauna, and accommodation rooms. Dormitory rooms have a land line phone, great Wi-Fi & cable TV. Cell service is available through Wi-Fi. The Company provides a bus service to and from Fairbanks, Delta Junction and Tok, Alaska.
