Job description

A growing heavy civil infrastructure contractor serving municipal and public-sector clients throughout North Carolina and Southern Virginia, is seeking a Field Superintendent / General Superintendent to join their team in the Winston-Salem and Greensboro region. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an experienced construction professional who wants to play a visible role in a growing organization, influence field operations, and help build the next chapter of the business.
What You'll Do as the Field Superintendent / General Superintendent:
  • Lead and support multiple field crews across active infrastructure projects
  • Coordinate daily construction activities to maintain productivity and project schedules
  • Manage subcontractors, vendors, and field resources
  • Oversee equipment allocation, utilization, and movement between projects
  • Coordinate utility locates and support project readiness efforts
  • Ensure materials are delivered and available when needed
  • Monitor project progress, field productivity, safety performance, and quality standards
  • Serve as the primary field leader and resource for foremen and crews
  • Identify and address field challenges before they impact project outcomes
  • Collaborate closely with company leadership on planning, execution, and operational improvements
  • Support company growth through strong project delivery and team leadership

Must-Haves as the Field Superintendent / General Superintendent:
  • 5+ years of heavy civil construction experience
  • Experience with water, sewer, storm drainage, or related underground utility projects
  • Proven ability to lead crews and manage field operations
  • Experience working on municipal infrastructure projects
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
