Job description

Met-Con Inc. is currently seeking a talented and experienced Steel Erection General Superintendent to join our growing team.
As a General Superintendent, you will have the unique opportunity to oversee and manage on-site construction projects. From start to finish, you will be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Safety is our top priority, and you will be responsible for ensuring that all safety precautions are followed on-site.
A key aspect of your role will be to hold weekly site safety meetings, promoting a culture of safety among the team. You will coordinate weekly look-a-head schedules to anticipate any potential issues or delays. Attending on-site project meetings, including those focused on safety, quality, scheduling, and production, will be essential for effective coordination and communication.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Attention to detail will be crucial as you read specifications and blueprints to determine the locations, quantities, and sizes of materials needed for the project
  • Coordinate with other trades and schedule material deliveries to the job site
  • Address non-conformances, issuing corrective actions as needed
  • Troubleshoot any issues that arise on-site and submit Requests for Information (RFIs) and complete as-built drawings
EXPERIENCE
To be successful as a General Superintendent at Met-Con, Inc., you will need to possess a range of skills and knowledge related to the construction industry.
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written
  • Proficiency in using tools and equipment is crucial for this role
  • Experience and knowledge in operating equipment such as transit, laser level, and torpedo levels
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills will allow you to effectively convey information, delegate tasks, and address any concerns that may arise
  • A solid understanding of commercial construction and steel erection is also required.
