Summary of Job Duties:
The Anthony Timberlands Director of Operations manages daily operations and business planning, and collaborates with the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design (FJSAD) faculty and administration to develop a long-term strategy for the newly built, state-of-the-art Anthony Timberlands research and teaching facility. This leader ensures high efficiency, strict regulatory compliance, financial budget control, and proper team supervision to advance the research and teaching agenda of the University of Arkansas and the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design.
This is an in-person position, not a remote position. Extensive in-person engagement in both supervisory activities and formal and informal interactions with colleagues contributes to successful leadership, coordination, and collaboration and is essential to the expectations for this position.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job function of this job, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant science, engineering, or design discipline from an accredited institution of higher education
  • At least five years of professional lab experience
  • At least two years two years in a leadership role in a professional lab setting
  • Experience with software related to digital technology and fabrication (CAM, 3D Modeling, Arduino)
  • Experience with traditional fabrication assemblies and techniques (woodworking, metalworking)
  • Experience with contemporary fabrication (CNC router, CNC lathe, CNC mill, 3D printing, Robotics)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a relevant science, engineering, or design discipline from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Experience working in an educational environment
  • Experience in the design and fabrication of custom robotic end effectors
