What You'll Do

Join the Facilities team at Grand River Hospital District and help maintain a safe, reliable, and comfortable environment for patients, residents, staff, and visitors. Under the supervision of the Facilities Director, this role performs a wide range of maintenance, repair, and operational duties across hospital buildings, grounds, and supporting systems. Responsibilities include routine maintenance, emergency response, equipment operation, and assisting with HVAC and plant systems to ensure continuous facility readiness. This position also participates in rotating on-call coverage and works closely with team members and contractors to support daily operations.

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs including plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical, and mechanical work.
  • Complete preventative maintenance and work orders to maintain safe, sanitary, and efficient hospital environments.
  • Assist with the operation and maintenance of HVAC systems and plant equipment including boilers, chillers, generators, and medical gas systems.
  • Respond to facility emergencies involving power systems, fire alarms, HVAC operations, and other critical equipment.
  • Apply knowledge of electrical, plumbing, hydraulic, and mechanical systems while following safety and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate with contractors and team members while supporting daily facility operations and rotating on-call coverage.
  • Performs a variety of tasks and other duties as assigned.

Who We're Looking For

Weโ€™re looking for a dependable maintenance professional with experience in facility repairs, preventative maintenance, and building systems.

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of maintenance or facilities experience required.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license and clean DMV record required.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, and basic HVAC systems, along with strong troubleshooting, communication and teamwork skills.
