Job description

JOB EMPHASIS AND PURPOSE

The General Maintenance position consist of a number of different job tasks, including but not limited to, lubricating of machines, carrier builder/cleaning/changing, degreaser operation, and housekeeping.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Machine Care

  • Facility, equipment & machine care
  • Oil and grease braiders, winders, and all other applicable equipment (i.e. – line shafts, worm gears, etc.)
  • Vacuum / blow off machines (braiders, winders, cotton room, etc.)
  • Replace floor dry, sweep and mop floors.
  • Perform changeovers as needed.
  • Assist with air wash maintenance (clean, replace filters, pressure spray tanks and risers, etc.)

Parts Service

  • Identify and inspect carriers.
  • Disassemble and rebuild carriers as determined from inspection.
  • Remove and replace carriers as required.
  • Operate degreaser according to procedure.
  • Wash spools.

Housekeeping

  • Cleaning of break rooms, rest rooms and grounds.
  • Trash collection and recycling of material waste.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Experience

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Some general mechanical experience preferred.

License / Credentials / Certifications

  • Forklift license required for some job tasks.
  • Lock out certification.

Skills / Specialized Knowledge / Abilities

  • Attention to details.
  • A good understanding of the working of parts and machines for assigned area.
  • Ability to read and interpret labels that explain directions for usage and safety.
  • Teamwork, face-to-face communication, good attendance.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Working hours are generally from 7:00am to 3:30pm (Monday – Friday) with a chance of variation based on needs.
  • Work is generally performed in a manufacturing environment and occasionally on the roof and the surrounding property. Hearing protection is required in most areas.
  • Degreaser / carrier build – hot work area in summer months
  • Ability to stand, squat, and bend at the waist for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to work with hands above head and to use them in a repetitive motion for a noticeable period of time Ability to lift between 20-50 lbs. on occasion

Tools and Equipment

  • Basic hand tools, pushcart, cleaning supplies, broom/mop/bucket, electric oil cart, grease gun, vacuum, checker tools, individual carrier parts, assigned PPE
