Job Brief
General Maintenance Worker
Position: General Maintenance Worker
Location: Dugway Proving Ground
Summary: Under direct supervision of the Housing Manager. Performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge (but not proficiency) in trades such as: painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. Work involves a variety of the following duties: replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors; using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceiling; repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, and toilets; painting structures and equipment; repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks; replacing damaged paneling and replacing broken window panes; and performing general maintenance on equipment.
Qualifications: Require basic knowledge & experience in construction trades (painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electric).
Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent work experience.
Purpose of Classification: Provide general maintenance and labor services to the Housing Shop in accordance with the Dugway Proving Ground PWS.
Duties & Responsibilities:
โ€ข Respond to service calls within the allowable timeframe
โ€ข Participation in Quality Control and Safety Program
โ€ข Must adhere to the Lockout / Tagout Program
โ€ข Perform daily checks on company provided vehicle
โ€ข Accomplished work in compliance with government regulations and all building codes
โ€ข Assists in identifying material requirements for work in government acceptable format
โ€ข Operates general purpose vehicles
โ€ข Under supervision, operate shop equipment, machinery, and power tools related to job tasks
โ€ข Accomplishes work utilizing safe work practices, procedures, and adherence to OSHA
โ€ข Perform related duties as required
Special Knowledge / Skills Required:
โ€ข Must be able to meet eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain the required government security clearance
โ€ข Must possess valid State Driver's License.
