Position Summary

The Technical Sales Representative – General Industrial is responsible for representing the company in its effort in obtaining new business, maintaining current business, and providing technical support.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prospect, sell and service industrial paint coatings.
  • Recognize sales opportunities when providing service work and conversely recognize opportunities for technical support when prospecting customers.
  • Provide technical education and solutions in the field to customers regarding all aspects of company products.
  • Provide account maintenance for current customers including contract negotiations.
  • Forecast sales and price adjustments.
  • Work with the development team to ensure technical skills are current with regards to existing products and future products in consideration.
  • Report all initiatives to supervisor and provide status updates on a regular basis.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements
  • Education level preferred: bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university. Degree is preferred to be in a Science related field such as Chemistry or Business.
  • Experience level preferred: At least three years of technical sales experience in a chemical coatings’ environment.
Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook), Concur, ERP system, and other office machinery.
  • Leadership capabilities with the ability to lead by example.
  • Exemplify core values, i.e., Integrity, Loyalty, Passion, Commitment, and Respect.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Excellent team building and communications skills.
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel over 50% of the time.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to communicate verbally and audibly in a manufacturing or operational setting.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and move throughout the work area.
  • Regular use of hands and fingers to handle, manipulate, and control objects, tools, or equipment.
  • Required to sit, balance, stoop, and occasionally reach above shoulder level.
  • Occasional operation of machinery using foot controls
  • May be required to climb, balance, and reach overhead as part of job duties.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 65 lbs.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Safety shoes, safety glasses, and flame‑retardant uniforms or lab coats are required in production areas.
  • Respirators and ear plugs are required for specific production processes.
