Technical Service Representative – General Industrial

 

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 1st Shift

Pay Range: $75,000 -$90,000 per year (based on experience and qualifications)

Position Summary

The Technical Service Representative – General Industrial is responsible for supporting sales by providing technical service activities related to coatings applications and formulation troubleshooting.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Respond to technical inquiries.
  • Documentation of customer visits and line audits.
  • Provide classroom and hands-on painter training for customers.
  • Assist customers and support sales in general coatings and application knowledge.
  • Recognize sales opportunities when engaging customers.
  • Lead trouble shooting activities at customers and coordinate with sales and laboratory.
  • Evaluate new products to ensure quality.
  • Assist lab with testing and application evaluations.
  • Assist with issues pertaining to the Powder and GI sales group.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.


Qualification Requirements

  • Education level preferred: bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university. Degree is preferred to be in a Science related field such as Chemistry or Business.
  • Experience level preferred: Three to five years’ experience operating a liquid or powder paint line.

 

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook), Concur, ERP system, and other office machinery.
  • Leadership capabilities with the ability to lead by example.
  • Exemplify core values, i.e., Integrity, Loyalty, Passion, Commitment, and Respect.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Excellent team building and communications skills.
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel over 75% of the time.


Work Environment & Physical Requirements


Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to communicate verbally and audibly in a manufacturing or operational setting.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and move throughout the work area.
  • Regular use of hands and fingers to handle, manipulate, and control objects, tools, or equipment.
  • Required to sit, balance, stoop, and occasionally reach above shoulder level.
  • Occasional operation of machinery using foot controls
  • May be required to climb, balance, and reach overhead as part of job duties.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 65 lbs.


Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Safety shoes, safety glasses, and flame-retardant uniforms or lab coats are required in production areas.
  • Respirators and ear plugs are required for specific production processes.
