Position Overview:
The Financial Analyst supports the Museumโs financial planning, reporting, and analytical functions to ensure strong fiscal stewardship and informed decision-making. This role partners with departments across the institutionโincluding curatorial, visitor experience, retail, administration and developmentโto provide insights on operating performance, budgeting, and strategic initiatives.

Essential Functions:
Financial Planning & Analysis
ยท Support the annual operating and capital budget processes, including data collection, consolidation, and analysis
ยท Monitor departmental budgets and provide variance analysis against plan, forecast, and prior year
ยท Build and maintain financial models for projects such as a multi-year long-term financial model, revenue dashboards, gift / endowment assessments
ยท Analyze attendance trends, admissions revenue, membership performance, and retail/food service activity
Reporting & Decision Support
ยท Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for leadership and Board committees
ยท Translate financial results into actionable insights
ยท Provide analysis on exhibition economics and program profitability
ยท Support benchmarking against peer institutions
ยท Consult with departments and project teams on strategic / financial questions, using problem-solving and analytical skills
Operational & Cost Analysis
ยท Evaluate cost structures and identify efficiency opportunities
ยท Support labor/FTE analysis in partnership with People and Culture (P&C) department
ยท Analyze exhibition cost drivers and revenue opportunities
Data Management & Systems
ยท Maintain financial models and reporting tools
ยท Ensure data accuracy across reporting platforms
ยท Support reporting automation initiatives and the use of AI to further enhance financial analysis
Audit & Compliance Support
ยท Assist with audit preparation and regulatory filings
ยท Ensure adherence to nonprofit accounting standards
Perform other related duties as responsibilities require or as directed.
Requirements and Characteristics:
Required
ยท Bachelorโs degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field
ยท 3โ5 years of relevant experience
ยท Advanced Excel skills
ยท Strong analytical and communication skills
ยท Experience with endowment fund accounting
Preferred
ยท Experience in nonprofit or cultural institutions
ยท Experience preparing Board-level materials
ยท Experience with Oracle Fusion

Work Environment
This role operates in a dynamic, mission-driven environment that demands cross-functional collaboration and manages multiple priorities. Hybrid work is available, with a minimum of three days in the office.
Salary Range
Full-time Salary
Starting Salary: $78,000 - $88,000
