Job description

The Electric Drive Modules (EDMs) System Engineer is responsible for optimizing, designing, and defining the Best-in-Class [BIC] EDM system [eMotor, Power Inverter, Gearbox] for efficiency, performance or cost for a given vehicle requirements / constraint. The engineer would lead the development, further improve, and maintain EDM system design optimization process/ methodologies considering all domains- electrical, mechanical, thermal and NVH. The System Engineer would run trade of studies, evaluate design proposals, and recommend best technical EDM design. The engineer will be supporting fellow system engineers on multiple programs globally. The engineer will define requirements for EDM system and its subcomponents- eMotor, PIM, Gearbox. The Engineer will participate in EDMs technical roadmap and develop different EDMs concepts to meet its technical specs, life, and quality requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent engineering degree from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 5 years of industrial experience in optimization and design of BIC EDM systems [eMotor, PIM and Gearbox] for different electrified propulsion architecture and applications (BEVs)- considering system efficiency, performance, NVH, cost and other system constraints.
  • Expert in eMotor design with minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Good understanding of Electric Drive System design -eMotor design, power electronics / power inverter module design/ gearbox design / motor controls.
  • Expert in model-based system engineering and tools -MATLAB, Simulink, Simcenter Amesim and other competitive commercial system 1D simulation software
  • Expert in EDM System analysis- efficiency and performance.
  • Experience in defining requirements for EDM or its subcomponents -eMotor, PIM or gearbox.
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Electrical, or equivalent Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Excellent problem-solving techniques and analytical ability
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Design for Six Sigma (DFSS)
