Principal Facilities- Robotic Automation Engineer - Injection Molding Plastics and Automation
The Facilities Engineer provides on-site technical support for the plant infrastructure (power, water, air, lighting, gas, etc). Manages projects related to electrical/mechanical support systems, building renovations, and other infrastructure-related items to support manufacturing activities. Based on building needs, this role may be combined with manufacturing equipment support responsibilities.PositionPrincipal Automation and Injection Molding EngineerLocationUSA, Louisville, KYHow You'll Create Possibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact within the plant to provide technical support and consultation on the plant infrastructure, facility support systems, and manufacturing equipment.

  • Provide technical expertise on plant layout, connections into/out of the plant, and troubleshooting of facility operational issues. Provides this technical support and expertise to Plant Operations across multiple shifts.

  • Own and facilitate effective utilization and operation of facility support systems and structure, including lighting, air compressors, electrical (incl. breaker maintenance), plumbing, vacuum pumps, sprinklers, chillers, cooling towers, HVAC, boilers, electric volts, process waste, drainage, dock doors, roof, fans, back-up generator.

  • Own the utility budget for the plant. Monitor and assist the plant in minimizing and controlling utility usage.

  • Own information sharing across assigned areas and shifts to ensure that adjacent members of the maintenance escalation team are provided with correct and timely information.

  • Foster a positive relationship with the Maintenance team - coach and promote a culture of accountability.

  • Identify repetitive problems, troubleshoot equipment, and develop and implement solutions.

  • Document "Field Service Reports" - using the eAM system for repairs/adjustments for:

  • Issues causing more than 30 Min of DT for Asm areas

  • Issues causing more than 2 hours of DT for Support areas 20%

  • Lead and support Level 2 troubleshooting, diagnostics or repairs.

  • Responsible for identifying and prioritizing major (chronic) maintenance issues with facility infrastructure and initiating and developing action plans to resolve issues.

  • Act as the prime point of contact for coordinating with production and other affected support areas including on-call support as needed by the production team. 60%

  • Document work completed to include remaining open items. (using eAM work system). Leave no temporary corrective action conditions in place without a follow-up Work Order to bring a permanent repair.

  • Conduct investigations of critical failures and report findings.

  • Work with the PSO, contractors, and Advanced Manufacturing Engineer (AME)

  • Ensure specifications are technically complete and support overall equipment strategies. Support as required:

  • Infrastructure design and specification development

  • Planning for integration into operations.

  • Support all TPM initiatives and events across COE

  • Serve as the gatekeeper for PLC and Robot programs

What You'll Bring to Our Team

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience

  • 7 years relevant experience in maintenance, mechanical engineering or facilities management role

  • Broad understanding of electrical, mechanical, and structural systems

  • Have a basic understanding of machining processes: turning, milling, welding, grinding, Lock Out -Tag Out.

  • Have a strong mechanical aptitude and excellent root cause analysis skills.

  • Demonstrated Project Management skills

  • Previous Supervisory Experience and/or experience working directly with Production Operations and Operators

  • Strong Leadership skills including interpersonal, facilitation, communication, and team-building skills

  • Proven Analytical and Technical Skills, including Lean and Six Sigma tools.

  • Ability to implement long-term plans into day-to-day operations

  • Solid Computer skills (i.e. Microsoft suite, software/programming, and PLC)"

  • Strong troubleshooting and programming of automation and robotics.
