Strong communication and adaptability are key to navigating these challenges and delivering successful project outcomes.

What is the difference between Ge Engineering vs Civil Engineering?

AspectGe EngineeringCivil Engineering
Required CredentialsBachelor's in Geotechnical Engineering or related field, PE license often preferredBachelor's in Civil Engineering, PE license common
Work EnvironmentField sites, laboratories, consulting firmsConstruction sites, design offices, government agencies
Industry UsageFocus on soil, rock, and subsurface conditions for projectsBroader infrastructure projects including roads, bridges, buildings

Ge Engineering primarily concentrates on soil and rock mechanics, subsurface investigations, and foundation design, whereas Civil Engineering covers a wider range of infrastructure projects. Both roles require similar credentials but differ in focus and work environment, with Ge Engineering specializing in geotechnical aspects within the civil industry.

Job description

Job Description Summary
At our Salt Lake City site, engineering, research, and manufacturing teams come together to design and build surgical imaging technologies - including advanced C-arm imaging systems that support image-guided procedures for clinicians across the globe. The work here contributes to the precision and capability clinicians bring into the OR every day.
The Manufacturing Engineering Technician 1 supports manufacturing operations by partnering with engineers and production teams to keep the manufacturing floor running efficiently. This hands-on role troubleshoots equipment and process issues, supports assembly and test operations, collects and analyzes production data, and helps implement process improvements for advanced medical imaging systems. The position also plays a key role in maintaining manufacturing documentation, supporting new product introductions, and ensuring products are built to quality and regulatory standards.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Assist manufacturing engineers in the design, development, and improvement of production processes, fixtures, and tooling.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment and processes, escalating complex issues to higher-level technicians or engineers.
  • Collect and analyze production data to identify areas for improvement and support process optimization initiatives.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams.
  • Conduct time studies and participate in lean manufacturing activities to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Support the implementation and validation of new products and processes on the production floor.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of manufacturing equipment as directed.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and quality standards (e.g., ISO 13485, FDA regulations).
  • Collaborate with production personnel to resolve manufacturing issues and ensure smooth operations.
  • Participate in root cause analysis for production defects and non-conformances.

Required Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in a technical field (e.g., Manufacturing Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology) or High School diploma and minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Proficiency with basic hand tools and measurement equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers).
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
  • Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a medical device or electronics industry.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
