Gator Spot Entertainer - Part - Time
Job Title: Gator Spot Entertainer
Department: Gator Spot - 90
Reporting Relationship: Gator Spot Manager, Supervisor
Status: Part Time/Non-Exempt/Hourly
Starting Wage: $14.00 per hour, commission, and a bonus program
Location: Inside Fun Spot America located on International Dr., Orlando, FL

Summary of Duties:
Gator Spot is looking for a self-motivated individual who enjoys interacting with the public. Our entertainment team is 'the face' of our park, and are expected to provide a safe, exciting, and educational experience for our guests while promoting interest in Gatorland. Individuals applying for this position must be able to perform in all respective departments of Gator Spot, including but not limited to: Admissions, Retail, Photo, and Shows, as well as off property obligations such as Off-Property Shows, Marketing, and Sales events.
Entertainers will open and close the park, clean and maintain exhibits, operate the admission and retail areas, perform educational shows while using a microphone, promote the generation of revenue through offering photo and feeding opportunities, and provide memorable experiences for the guests with meet and greets.
This position will work closely around animals including, but not limited to, crocodilians ranging in size from 6 inches to 13 feet, various small reptiles, arachnids, and large parrots. Animal related responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing proper husbandry and enrichment, and practicing safe handling skills. This position may require heavy lifting and moving, and candidates should be able to lift upwards of 50 pounds.
Primary duties for this position will be performed at Gator Spot, located within the Fun Spot America attraction on International Drive in Orlando, FL. Entertainers will be required to travel and perform off property events, activities, and educational shows. Candidates should be comfortable speaking in front of groups and be able to project their voice.
Primary Duties:
  • Follow and perform the assigned daily operational procedures of the Gator Spot Park.
  • Follow procedures relating to the well-being, care, and enrichment of all resident animals.
  • Maintain the quality, appearance, cleanliness, and functionality of the park and exhibits on a continual basis.
  • Complete daily reports of activities, animal husbandry, and enclosure maintenance.
  • Conduct daily scheduled shows and animal encounters on a microphone.
  • Promote revenue within the Admissions, Retail, Photo, and Show areas.
  • Adhere to any policies set forth by Gatorland, Fun Spot, the state, or the FL Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission.
  • Promote interest in visitation to Gatorland by providing information to guests pertaining to additional activities such as: the Screamin' Gator Zipline, Swamp Buggy Off-Road Adventure, Trainer for a Day, and Gator Night Shine.
  • Provide our guests with Fun, Smiles, and Special Memories.

Education, Experience, Specialized Skills, and Knowledge Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • High school Diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving history with willingness to travel.
  • Interest and passion for reptiles/ other animals; must possess skills in understanding & applying behavioral conditioning.
  • Must be comfortable interacting with people and possess basic public speaking abilities.
  • Must be self-motivated, exhibit good problem solving, and have strong communication skills.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and be able to tolerate extremes in outdoor temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Must be able to perform above duties without any physical limitations.
  • Must present a professional and neat appearance at all times.
  • Must be able to operate a cash register and practice good cash handling skills.
  • Must be flexible with scheduling needs including morning shifts, night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Will be asked to memorize a script and audition for the position.
