Job description

Gas Module Exchange Technician

Location: Ft. Wayne, Indiana

OUR COMPANY:

We have teamed up with the largest natural gas distribution company, and the second largest electric distribution company in the state of Indiana and are in need of Gas Module Exchange Technicians in the Ft. Wayne, Indiana area.

THIS POSITION:

Gas Module Exchange Technicians generally work independently on a day-to-day basis under the supervision of the Gas Module Foreman. Work must be performed in an extremely efficient manner with a very minimal error rate. Employees in this class are required to use appropriate safety equipment and follow safety procedures in performing assignments. Employees will report to the Gas Module Exchange Foreman who reviews work through meetings, conferences, reports, and overall results achieved. The ideal candidates will have a willingness to be trained on the job responsibilities. This position is also a union position, and candidate will have the opportunity to join the union within 30 days of hire.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Installs and inspects new gas modules to ensure proper functionality.
  • Perform field service tasks including equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Operates a light truck to load and unload equipment and drive to work sites.
  • Use handheld devices to enter data and program gas modules.
  • Adhere to scheduling and attendance requirements.
  • Work autonomously, reporting to Gas Module Exchange Foreman.
  • Utilize appropriate safety equipment and follow safety procedures in performing assignments.
  • Evaluates module testing results to make adjustments.
  • Communicates with customers, coworkers, supervisors, and the public to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience working outdoors (landscaping, construction, painting, roofing etc)
  • Willingness to join union within 30 days upon being hired.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools, technology functions, and work with low voltage systems.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written directions and instructions.
  • Ability to learn job-related material through on-the-job training and in classroom settings.
  • Ability to work at a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to follow safety rules, policies, and procedures and be aware of the safety of others in the area.
  • Ability to comprehend and make inferences from written material.
  • Ability to work independently and a part of a team.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools for various tasks.
  • Familiarity with low voltage systems
  • Problem-solving skills for troubleshooting issues efficiently
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (a motor vehicle record search will be completed before hire)

OTHER:

  • Experience with general gas work or gas module training is a plus.
  • Experience with utility locating is a plus.
  • Knowledge of standard gas module safety practices and procedures applicable to work around utility equipment.
  • Ability to use all equipment associated with the installation and removal of modules.

PAY RANGE:

  • Starting at $28.00 per hour, plus overtime
  • Opportunity for bonus upon meeting the designated requirements.
  • Work 8-9 hours, 5-6 days/week
  • Company truck (standard F-150) to drive during work hours.

PHYSICAL AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must agree to company car driving policy.
  • Bending crouching, kneeling, and walking several miles per day
  • Ability to drive in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Ability to work outside with exposure to all weather conditions.
  • Ability to travel to field locations to conduct data collecting.
  • Ability to adapt easily to changing work schedules.
  • Carry up to 20lbs of equipment.
  • Be able to effectively communicate with customers in a courteous manner displaying excellent customer service and perform other duties as assigned.
