The Natural Gas Meter Mechanic is responsible for performing installation/replacement of all gas equipment, integrity test and relight procedures along with other associated work on premises such as inspections of service lines, meters, and regulators.

**Compensation for this role is $23-27/hr. based on experience. **

Responsibilities:

  • Installation/replacement of natural gas meters, regulators, meter fits and other related natural gas equipment as necessary
  • Perform maintenance and investigations on all-natural gas equipment
  • Perform external surface inspections to verify if visible atmospheric corrosion exists
  • Conduct a leak survey using a CGI (Combustible Gas Indicator)
  • Perform regulator vent inspections
  • Turn off and lock meters when necessary
  • Perform painting of natural gas piping when necessary
  • Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the customer experience along with the ability to resolve conflict and deescalate stressful situations
  • Report accurate results on a mobile device with installed applications
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance
  • Demonstrate individual responsibility to ensure the achievement of the project scope, goals, and productive deliverables
  • Maintain skills, Operator Qualifications and knowledge of the Client’s policies, procedures, and specifications
  • Maintain effective relationships with Client operational leadership
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, and Excel and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Windows (browser)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative to perform tasks.
  • Ability to perform with a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to meet project deadlines

Education and Experience:

  • 2-5 + years construction experience or mechanical experience
  • High school diploma or GED is required
  • OSHA 10-30 or HAZWOPER training is preferred

Additional:

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record

Physical Demands:

  • Duties are performed primarily in an outdoor setting with exposure to changing weather conditions.
  • Position requires the ability to stand for long periods of time, and lift up to 30 pounds
  • Position requires the ability to climb up and down ladders
  • Must be able to perform moderate physical activity including somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily productive/technical nature.
  • Ambulatory across uneven surfaces, frequent bending at knees and waist
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers and clients. Must be able to exchange accurate information
