Infectious Disease Physician (MD/DO) - UNC Health Rex

Join a well-established Infectious Disease team consisting of 3 physicians and 2 advanced practice providers in a dynamic, high-acuity healthcare setting in North Carolina's capital city.

Practice Highlights

  • Diverse mix of inpatient and outpatient Infectious Disease care
  • Providers manage approximately 12-20 inpatients daily
  • Dedicated weekly clinic day, typically seeing 7 patients, with additional clinic sessions available based on patient volume
  • Collaborative team environment with strong APP support

Schedule

  • Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
  • Shared weekend coverage with the physician team
  • Post-call recovery time provided following weekend coverage

Responsibilities

  • Provides professional medical services to patients, both in-person and in a virtual setting.
  • Exercises independent professional judgment in the care and treatment of patients.
  • Orders and prescribes medical treatment, diagnostic testing, nursing care and other health and medical services. Prescribes medically appropriate pharmaceuticals.
  • Consults and counsels with patients and families. Provides health and medical education to patients and families.
  • Refers patients as needed to appropriate medical specialists and other health care professionals to ensure appropriate multidisciplinary care is provided.
  • Documents medical and clinical care in the patient's medical record. Assigns the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes to permit third-party insurance billing.
  • Supervises other medical professionals.
  • Adheres to the principles of medical ethics.
