An ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) Therapist or RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) volunteer helps implement behavior intervention plans under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). The role focuses on working with individuals, often children, with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or other developmental conditions. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Behavior Intervention: Implementing individualized treatment plans designed by the BCBA, which aim to improve communication, social, and behavioral skills.
  2. Data Collection: Recording and monitoring the client's progress by collecting data on their behaviors and responses to the interventions.
  3. Skill Development: Assisting clients in learning new skills, such as communication, social interaction, and daily living tasks.
  4. Reinforcement: Using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage desired behaviors and reduce problematic ones.
  5. Collaboration: Working closely with parents, teachers, and other caregivers to ensure consistency in treatment across different environments.

As a External Therapist you do not work for APEC primarily but will be required to complete an application/background check for screening purposes. 


Program Information

  • APEC Afterschool locations are primarily based in the South Fulton GA area.
  • Children report to us Monday - Friday from 2:20pm - 6:30pm (excluding school breaks).
  • Each location supports 30 - 130 kids daily, ranging from ages 4-11.
  • Our locations have several transitions/activities that will be implemented throughout the day (keep this in mind for clients who may have difficulty with transitions).
