Job description

Safety Internship (Summer Operations)

Six Flags Fiesta Texas | Safety Department
Pay Rate: $12.00 per hour/20-30 hours per week

Are you ready to spend your summer learning what it takes to help keep one of the most exciting
theme parks in Texas safe, prepared, and operating at its best? Six Flags Fiesta Texas is looking
for a Safety Intern to join our Safety Department for Summer Operations.

This internship is a great opportunity for someone interested in workplace safety, inspections,
risk prevention, theme park operations, emergency preparedness, or building a career in Safety,
Public Safety, Human Resources, Operations, or a related field.

Why This Internship Is Fun

You will get to learn safety in a real-world environment where no two days are exactly the same.
From rides and food locations to entertainment venues, employee areas, and guest pathways, you
will see how safety plays a key role in every part of the park. This is a great opportunity to build
your resume, gain hands-on experience, and be part of a team that helps keep the fun going
safely all summer long.

As a Safety Intern, you will get hands-on experience supporting the daily safety operations of a
fast-paced theme park environment. A major focus of this role will be conducting safety
inspections throughout the park, but you will also learn several important aspects of working in
the Safety Department, including hazard identification, documentation, follow-up,
communication with departments, and supporting safety initiatives across the property.

This is not a sit-behind-a-desk-all-day internship. You will be out in the park, interacting with
leaders and team members, observing operations, learning how inspections are conducted, and
helping promote a safe environment for our guests and employees.

How You Will Do It:

  • Conduct routine safety inspections throughout park areas, back-of-house locations, work
    areas, and operational spaces.
  • Identify, document, and report potential safety concerns or hazards.
  • Assist with tracking inspection results, corrective actions, and follow-up items.
  • Support the Safety Department with audits, reports, safety observations, and department
    projects.
  • Learn how safety policies, procedures, and inspections support daily theme park
    operations.
  • Partner with departments to promote safe work practices and awareness.
  • Assist with safety communications, reminders, and team member engagement efforts.
  • Maintain professionalism while working in both guest-facing and behind-the-scenes
    areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the Safety Department and park operations.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able and willing to climb up to 100ft with proper safety equipment.
  • Must be able to life and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Interest in safety, emergency management, operations, hospitality, human resources,
public safety, or a related field.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify potential concerns.
  • Good communication skills and a willingness to speak with team members and leaders.
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods in an outdoor theme park environment.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced summer operation.
  • Dependable, professional, and eager to learn.
  • Basic computer skills for entering inspection notes, tracking information, and completing
    reports.
  • Previous safety, operations, leadership, or theme park experience is helpful, but not
    required.

Other Notes

  • This is a Summer Operations internship position.
  • Pay rate is $12.00 per hour.
  • OSHA 10 certification provided.
  • Reports to the Safety Department’s Senior Supervisor.
  • All other duties as assigned or necessary to support the park as a whole.
