Our internship program is designed to help you not only understand what we do but how and why we do it. This position is on a part-time basis and will work in the Scottsdale corporate headquarters starting August 2026. The ideal candidate will be available to work 4 hours a day and be a current 2L or 3L law student.

This legal intern will be exposed to residential construction contract law. Working on state specific addendums and provisions. Shadow our VP of Contracts and Risk Management reviewing OSHA regulations. Assisting in the negotiation and drafting of land development agreements as well as working on professional services. Working with trade partners, subcontractors and divisional vendor contracts, making sure subcontractors' insurance is up to date. 

The stuff you will do:

• Work closely with internal business leaders to learn the homebuilding industry, the Meritage business model and an assigned functional area such as construction, land, marketing, operations, purchasing, finance, human resources, etc.
• Learn our core values and why they drive everything we do
• Translate classroom experience into practical application during the internship
• Participate in cross-functional projects involving other interns and business leaders centered around current business challenges
• Present real world business recommendations to senior leadership that can help drive our strategy
• Write a paper focusing on the experience or another assigned topic
