They can be found in industries like entertainment, sports, tech startups, or any company that prioritizes workplace culture and employee happiness. Fun internships help students and young professionals build their resumes while also making the experience memorable and enjoyable.

What types of projects or tasks can I expect to work on during a fun internship, and how is mentorship typically structured?

Whitecaps Ticket Sales Internship

Job Description

Who we are: We’re the West Michigan Whitecaps, High-A Minor League affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. The Whitecaps are in the fun business and our mission is to provide affordable family entertainment that strengthens the West Michigan community. We create memorable experiences by offering a fun, friendly and inclusive environment. We pride ourselves on our excellent customer service and our dedication to providing awesome opportunities to our fans. We’ve been here for 30 years and are ready to be here for at least 30 more.

Why we want you: You’re a College or University Junior or Senior, within 3 semesters of graduating. You need an internship for academic credit, and you’re pursuing a degree in Hospitality, Business, or Sports Management. You work hard, play nice, and appreciate a good joke.

Why you want to work here: The Whitecaps internship program is designed to provide an extensive hands-on career development training and job shadow program. We provide internship positions that are meaningful and help you get a feel of the sports business world. We work very hard but we don’t take ourselves too seriously; we realize how important things like puppy visits and staff happy hours are. Plus, you also get free shared housing, a monthly stipend, free baseball tickets & food (your friends will love you!), a free health club membership, and opportunities to get discounted or free tickets to events in West Michigan. We’re also pretty great people to work with.

What you’ll do: Your primary focus will be all things tickets. Your focus will be on coordinating the Reading Club Program, Kids Club, Birthday Packages as well as getting experience with the group sales process and taking sales for individual games. You will gain a lot of calls, sales, and box office experience. You’ll also learn all about the hospitality aspects of The West Michigan Whitecaps and LMCU Ballpark by setting up, coordinating, and staffing baseball picnic areas and being involved in Guest Services initiatives. You’ll gain knowledge in most other departments. You’ll also probably tarp the field a few times, and have a lot of fun doing it.

What you need: You need solid availability no later than Jan 15th through August – you’ll be working full-time, including evenings, weekends and holidays. Non-event days are generally M-F 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Event/ game days, the day generally begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends after the event. You need a valid driver’s license.

Let’s do this: If you’re ready to apply, we look forward to getting to know you. Submit your resume and drop us a cover letter letting us know why you’d be a good fit. We’ll be in touch!
