SUMMARY
Minimum Salary $62,173.25.
Salary offer commensurate with education and related work experience.
This is a Full-Time 12-month/tenure track faculty position, pending board approval with a start date of January 2027.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include working days, evenings and/or weekends.
Position Summary
Provides classroom and hands-on instruction in Welding Technology, supporting student skill development, career readiness, and instructional excellence. Requires flexibility to teach at various College and off-site locations, including daytime, evening, and weekend assignments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Teach and supervise Welding Technology students in classroom and laboratory environments.
  • Deliver instruction using approved curriculum, syllabi, assessments, and effective instructional methods.
  • Provide hands-on instruction in SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW welding processes on plate and pipe.
  • Assess student performance, provide timely feedback, and maintain accurate instructional records.
  • Advise and support students regarding academic progress, program requirements, and available resources.
  • Utilize instructional technology and online learning tools to support teaching, communication, and reporting.
  • Participate in curriculum development, program assessment, recruitment, retention, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain positive professional relationships with students, colleagues, administration, and community partners.
  • Participate in professional development and required institutional meetings.
  • Travel to College and off-site instructional locations as assigned.
  • Adhere to College policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Metals Science (Metallurgy, Welding Technology, or related field; and/or three (3) years non-teaching industry experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum one (1) year of college or university teaching experience
  • Bilingual - English/Spanish (Speak)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Proficiency in SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW welding processes on plate and pipe in all positions; successful completion of required weld tests.
  • Knowledge of welding practices, equipment, safety standards, and industry expectations.
  • Ability to effectively teach and engage students in classroom and hands-on learning environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, instructional technology, and learning management systems.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and student-support skills.
  • Flexibility to work days, evenings, and weekends and travel to assigned instructional locations.

If officials of the TDCJ exercise their contractual right to deny the Faculty Member access to the assigned unit, the Employer may terminate the Faculty Member's employment and cease salary payments effective immediately.
