Job description

Position Description:

At Nevada Gold Mines, our vision is to be the world's most valued gold mining business by finding, developing, and operating the best assets with the best people. 

We are excited to announce the expansion of our Greenfield Talent Program (GTP). As a participant in the Nevada Gold Mines GTP you will be provided with a unique opportunity to transition from an academic environment to the professional workplace over the first 18-months of your career.

The program begins with two months of comprehensive safety training at our Training Mine; followed by one to two months of engineering exposure, approximately 12 months of hands-on frontline operations experience, and an additional one to two months of exposure to other business areas that will help you to balance your understanding of the mining industry.

At the end of the 18-month program, you will transition into your technical role within the company and be enrolled in the Compass Development Program to continue the diverse exposure and learning that will round out your career. This structured approach ensures that our new graduates are well-prepared for successful careers at Nevada Gold Mines

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and communicate engineering plans, sequences, dumping priorities, etc. to operations and other stakeholders on site and ensure plans are carried out safely and efficiently
  • Assist in end of month reporting for leach pad deliveries as well as other necessary regulatory reporting
  • Work closely with the mine operations team to execute on designs and plans safely and efficiently
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering or related degree required
  • Zero (0) to One (1) years' experience Open Pit mining preferred
  • Experience using Vulcan, Qpit, AutoCAD, Xeras, Deswik, and Microsoft Office Suite preferred
  • Excellent safety record with the ability to demonstrate safety leadership required
  • Team leadership, problem solving, and excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Ability to work outside in varied weather conditions for extended periods of time required
  • Ability to cross-train within the mining engineering group required
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of this job required
