Position Information
Section Description:
The Financial Enforcement Section collects delinquent debts and other obligations owed to the Commonwealth and its agencies. It also represents the Commonwealth and its agencies before federal bankruptcy courts in Pennsylvania and throughout the United States.
Position Type:
One year Fellowship, Full-time, Non-civil service, Non-union. This position is at-will with no guarantee of employment for any specific term.
Basic Function:
The Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General seeks a recent law school graduate or current judicial law clerk to serve for one year as an Honors Fellow in the Civil Law Division's Financial Enforcement Section. While the core function of the Financial Enforcement Section involves collection and recovery of debts owed to the Commonwealth, the practice is broader in scope. Attorneys in this role routinely engage with a wide range of legal disciplines to advance and safeguard the Commonwealth's interests.
The Fellow will be a full member of the section and will report to the Chief Deputy Attorney General. The position works closely with attorneys and professionals from other sections of the Office of Attorney General and from other state agencies. The Fellow must excel in both written and oral communication and must possess strong negotiation skills and the organizational skills to manage multiple cases addressing a broad variety of issues simultaneously.
Job responsibilities will include assisting with litigation strategy, conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, and presenting oral argument before state courts and federal bankruptcy courts.

Minimum Experience and Training
Law students who are in their final year at an accredited law school and scheduled to graduate in the spring of 2026 are encouraged to apply. Individuals actively participating in clerkships who have not held the title of "Attorney" in any capacity following graduation are also encouraged to apply. This Fellowship begins in September 2026.
