SUMMARY: The Production Planner is responsible for developing and enforcing production control processes. They will create weekly production schedules that are distributed to the Shop Floor Supervisor and Team Leaders, while prioritizing expedites and work orders based on customer demand. Work with customer service representatives to ensure the correct orders are being completed in a timely manner, while monitoring daily production paperwork filled out by the production team. They will also communicate with customers, manage incoming orders and report scrap to the customers. Monitoring the scrap rate to communicate with purchasing and the customers on when new orders should be placed.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and manage production schedules to ensure 100% on-time delivery of customer orders.
  • Analyze sales order releases with respect to capacity planning and material requirements.
  • Complete shipping information and delivery date input.
  • Interface with manufacturing personnel, purchasing personnel, etc. on material status and production planning issues.
  • Monitor open order reports
  • Manage and create day-to-day production schedules, operational and plant activities, while focusing on due date and priority of customer.
  • Review engineering recommended process changes to ensure process is appropriate with operating goals.
  • Perform all work in accordance with ISO processes and procedures
  • Enter and update daily time tickets for jobs into ERP system
  • Occasional visits to customer sites to boost communication
  • Work with shipping department to ensure orders are being prioritized accurately
  • Manage incoming customer returns of tools for regrind & report the scrap to the customer
  • Communicate frequently with customers to understand their demand, and recommend new orders to be placed, based on the demand and scrap rate.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of basic OSHA requirements
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient problem solving and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office
  • Excellent time management skills


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment required
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience with production planning, expediting, MRP/ ERP systems, quality/continuous improvement initiatives, manufacturing safety practices and MS Office applications.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • Employee is regularly required to speak and understand English, stand, walk, sit, use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms. Employee is required to use computers and other equipment.
  • Full-time position with the minimum hours worked performed Monday through Friday
  • Some travel may be required as necessary to facilitate production management at other BlackHawk locations.
  • Employee frequently lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to clearly focus vision.
