Do you have a passion for teamwork and ensuring buildings and equipment remain in optimal condition? The Facilities Maintenance Mechanic must possess enough skills to perform general building maintenance and have the competency to work independently performing facility maintenance emergency calls. Duties may fall into a variety of trades, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, energy management, fire and life safety and keys and security systems. Grand Canyon University's Facilities Department is seeking a fulltime Facilities Maintenance Mechanic. This role will be located on our Main Campus at 33rd Ave and Camelback.
What you will do:
  • Provide a high level of customer service to students and/or faculty and staff.
  • Perform a variety of routine skilled maintenance including, but not limited to carpentry, painting, plumbing, mechanical and electrical trades work. Ensure that facilities are available for use and consistently maintained in a safe and clean condition.
  • Repair plumbing systems, to include replacing or installing plumbing fixtures, isolating, and assisting in the repair of emergency water, sewer, or gas leaks, and clearing stoppages.
  • Repair, replace and/or isolate faulty electrical low-voltage switches, fuses, light fixtures, ballasts, bulbs, and wall outlets. Troubleshoot electrically powered equipment/appliances such as ceiling & exhaust fans
  • Operate woodworking equipment to include power saws, table saws, grinders, sanders etc.
  • Paint interior/exterior walls/structures as required.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on building systems, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and control systems and related components; tests system competency and component devices and evaluates performance.

What you will need:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Trade school/training preferred
  • Must have valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in general maintenance, building maintenance, renovation, or construction
  • Ability to work from various sizes and types of ladders.
  • Experience and ability to operate various types of aerial work platforms.
  • Knowledge of carpentry, electrical, HVAC, painting/plastering, drywall repair, plumbing, pool maintenance and appliance repair
  • Willing to respond emergency requests outside of normal work hours
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays or extended hours as needed
  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University's Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
