The Shift Supervisor is responsible for leading hourly production team members in a 12-hour rotating shift paper manufacturing environment. This role ensures that production goals are met safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all safety, quality, environmental, and work standards. The Shift Supervisor provides day-to-day leadership, coordinates work activities, addresses operational issues in real time, and reinforces a strong safety and accountability culture.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise daily shift operations to achieve production, quality, and safety targets.
  • Coordinate staffing and work assignments to maintain continuous operations.
  • Monitor equipment performance and respond to operational upsets, quality deviations, or downtime.
  • Work closely with maintenance, quality, and production teams to troubleshoot issues and restore operations.
  • Ensure accurate production reporting and timely communication.
  • Lead, coach, and support hourly team members to reinforce teamwork, accountability, and performance expectations.
  • Address team member concerns, attendance, safety and performance issues.
  • Participate in onboarding, training, and development of new and existing team members.
  • Reinforce appropriate work behaviors, adherence to procedures, and respect in the workplace.
  • Ensure product quality standards are met and respond to quality issues promptly.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Encourage team member involvement in improvement ideas and problem-solving efforts.
  • Complete required documentation accurately and timely.
  • Communicate key information effectively to incoming/outgoing shifts and leadership teams.
  • Support company initiatives, policy rollouts, and operational changes.
  • Actively promote and enforce company safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Ensure all work is conducted in compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company regulations.
  • Respond to safety incidents, near-misses, or unsafe conditions; initiate corrective actions and complete required documentation.
  • Lead safety talks, incident reviews, and shift-level safety communications.

Requirements
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a related manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of safety practices in an industrial setting.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in fast-paced, continuous-operation environments.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft office systems.
  • Ability to work a 12-hour rotatingShi shift schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or reliability-focused operations.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, dust, and moving equipment.
  • Ability to walk, stand, climb stairs/ladders, and perform hands-on observation throughout the shift.
  • Ability to respond to operational or emergency situations as needed during the shift.
