Job description

Blackberry is looking for full-time seasonal adventure guides to lead guests to variable experiences in various outdoor activities. We seek, in particular, candidates strong in hiking, paddling, archery, and/or naturalist skills such as birding, stream ecology, orienteering, and experience guiding such activities. Employment is based on a 32-40 hour workweek as seasons dictate, consists of mostly day shifts, and requires some weekends and occasional holidays.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Must know the region, specifically in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains and the Park itself
• Previous guiding experience is desired to evaluate guests and their needs safely and to deliver quality
• Must be willing to collaborate on various outdoor project work such as trail clean-up and equipment maintenance
• Must be able to work with a team or small group, and be competent in planning, organizing, and facilitating a trip
Must comply with all company policies and procedures.
Regular and consistent attendance is required to perform the essential functions of this position.
Must be able to work well with other Team Members, Managers, and interact with our guests.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
• None
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
• Current CPR and First Aid certification is preferred
• High school diploma or GED and some college preferred
• Must have a valid Driver's License
LANGUAGE SKILLS
• Must have excellent communication skills, in order to interconnect with guests, team members, and managers effectively and professionally
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
• Basic knowledge and understanding of math
REASONING ABILITY
• Must be able to exercise judgment and make decisions based on job knowledge and awareness of company goals
• Must be able to assess current, probable, and possible conditions to provide a safe and quality experience
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to be on feet most or all of the shift
• Must be able to operate a company vehicle or golf cart safely
WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions
• 4,200 acres of Blackberry Farm property, 5,500 acres of Blackberry Mountain property, and surrounding areas including the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Chilhowee, and Tellico Lakes
