Job description

We are SLR Consulting (US), a coast-to-coast team of 500+ advisory, environmental/engineering, and regulatory professionals. We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration of over 30 advisory, technical environmental, and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability. We are Making Sustainability Happen.
As our new Mining Engineer, you will play an important role on a team whose work is essential to achieving this goal. SLR is currently seeking a full-time Mine Planning Engineer. This position will center on open pit design, planning, and cost estimation.
Responsibilities
• Mine planning for open pit (required) and underground (preferred)
• Creation of engineering and geologic drawings for reports
• Cost estimation and economic (DCF) modeling (preferred)
• Resources and reserve reporting
• Flexibility in supporting both engineering and geologic aspects of projects
• Teamwork with geologists, metallurgists, and other disciplines
• Provide client support and presentations
• Prepare operations and project estimates, schedules, and reports
• Engineering trade-off studies preferred, including autonomous vs conventional haulage, equipment selection, open pit vs underground operations

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Mining or Geological Engineering
• Minimum five years of mining experience
• Experience in both short term and long term mine planning
• Proficient in mine design, planning, and scheduling
• Proficient in 3D Mine Modeling software (Vulcan, Deswik, MineSight)
• Skilled in managing large and complex projects
• Strong communication and technical writing skills
• Desire to work toward qualification as a Qualified Person (QP) in 5-10 years.
• Second language in Spanish preferred
