Description
LAC Federal is looking for a Serials Bindery Assistant to join our team at a prominent federal library based in Washington, D.C. This role is perfect for individuals with a solid understanding of serial records and hands-on experience with an Integrated Library System. The position requires on-site work and offers full-time hours.
Responsibilities

  • Pulling selected serial titles from the library stacks.
  • Preparing serial units for shipment to the bindery.
  • Generating digital bindery tickets.
  • Creating and updating bibliographic item records and holding summaries in the Integrated Library System (ILS).
  • Conducting quality reviews of all pre-bindable units.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • At least one year of experience in library technical services.
  • Proficiency in using an Integrated Library System, with a preference for Voyager.
  • Experience working with serials.
  • Ability to analyze and identify serial patterns and records in Cyrillic languages.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds (occasionally up to 35 pounds).
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, sitting, and walking for extended periods.
