Bakery Counter Associate - DeLallo Italian Marketplace
Job Type: Full-time or Part-time
DeLallo Italian Marketplace is looking for friendly, dependable, and customer-focused Bakery Counter Associates to join our team.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with customers, fresh baked goods, specialty desserts, Italian pastries, breads, cookies, and high-quality marketplace products in a fast-paced retail environment.
Position Summary
Bakery Counter Associates provide excellent customer service while assisting customers with bakery selections, packaging products, maintaining displays, and helping keep the bakery department clean, organized, and ready for business.
This position may also assist with light bakery finishing duties such as decorating pastries, icing items, filling cannoli and pastries, writing on cakes, slicing bread, and taking customer orders.
The ideal candidate is friendly, dependable, detail-oriented, and willing to learn about DeLallo's bakery products and specialty Italian items.
Schedule
Bakery Counter positions may be available as full-time or part-time. All positions require weekend availability.
To meet business needs, some employees may be required to come in early to help prepare the store for opening. Shifts may begin at 5:00 AM or earlier, based on department needs.
Major holidays are off with pay.
Responsibilities
Assist customers at the bakery counter in a friendly and professional manner
Package, label, and display bakery items, pastries, breads, cookies, cakes, and desserts
Help customers with product selections, special requests, and bakery orders
Take customer orders accurately and communicate order details as needed
Assist with light pastry decorating, icing items, and finishing bakery products
Fill cannoli and pastries according to department standards
Write on cakes and assist with basic cake finishing as needed
Use a bread slicer to slice bread according to customer and department needs
Maintain clean, full, and attractive bakery displays
Stock, rotate, and organize bakery products
Check product dates and help ensure quality and freshness
Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and food safety procedures
Use scales, packaging equipment, bread slicers, and department tools safely
Keep work areas clean, safe, and organized
Support bakery production and other marketplace departments during busy periods as needed
Follow company policies, safety standards, and department procedures
Qualifications
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older
Previous bakery, grocery, retail, restaurant, food service, or customer service experience is helpful but not required
Bakery decorating, cake writing, pastry finishing, or order-taking experience is a plus
Interest in baked goods, desserts, specialty foods, and Italian products
Friendly, customer-focused attitude
Dependable, punctual, and willing to learn
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail
