Job description

Salary:

The Human Resources Associate will complete pre-employment verifications for onboarding candidates via phone, including education and personal reference checks, and perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of Apave America's HR department. This is a full-time position in Houston, Texas, with competitive pay, full benefits, and opportunities to build a rewarding career with Apave America.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct high-volume outbound calls to educational institutions, personal references, and other third-party contacts to verify applicant information during pre-employment screening.
  • Follow up on unresolved verifications to ensure timely completion within established hiring timelines.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate documentation on all verification attempts and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Onboarding Specialists, Hiring Managers, and other departments to ensure accurate and timely processing.
  • Conduct regular audits of drug testing rosters to verify employee assignments align with company policy, job functions, and work locations; update records and correct discrepancies as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date HR files, records, and documentation.
  • Perform periodic audits of HR files to ensure required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
  • Ensure integrity and confidentiality of HR records.
  • Answer applicant and employee questions regarding policies, benefits, and hiring processes; escalate complex inquiries to senior HR staff.
  • Perform administrative and recordkeeping tasks related to staffing changes (layoffs, resignations, terminations, extended leaves of absence).
  • Provide clerical support to the HR department.
  • Perform additional HR-related tasks as assigned.


Required Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software;
  • Proficient with or able to quickly learn human resource information system (HRIS) and similar computer applications;
  • Valid State-Issued ID and pre-employment background check will be required.


Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred;
  • Three years of office experience preferred, with at least one year in human resources highly preferred.


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer;
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
