We are seeking a FHIR Subject Matter Expert (SME) Consultant to advise on healthcare interoperability initiatives, with a focus on implementing and optimizing Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) standards across payer, provider, and health IT ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the FHIR interoperability SME for client engagements, advising on standards, implementation strategies, and compliance with federal and industry guidance.

  • Design, implement, and optimize FHIR APIs to improve healthcare data exchange across EHRs, payers, and provider systems.

  • Provide expertise in FHIR R4/R5, US Core Implementation Guide, and SMART on FHIR.

  • Collaborate with developers, architects, and healthcare stakeholders to ensure FHIR solutions meet clinical, operational, and regulatory needs.

  • Guide clients in adopting interoperability best practices, including security, scalability, and performance.

  • Support testing, validation, and certification of FHIR implementations.

  • Strong knowledge of HL7 v2, CDA, and FHIR migration strategies.

  • Familiarity with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and API security in healthcare environments.

  • Experience advising healthcare organizations, payers, or health IT vendors strongly preferred.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to serve as a trusted advisor to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Certifications
  • HL7 FHIR Proficiency or FHIR Implementation Guide Author Certification

  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS)
