Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The mission of the Department of Mathematics is to extend the frontiers of mathematical knowledge and the ways it is used in the real world, to disseminate that knowledge and to train the next generation of teachers and researchers, as well as those choosing careers with industry or government. The Department is committed to building and nourishing interactions with other units across the UNC campus and with academic and industrial partners in North Carolina's Research Triangle region, throughout the State and across the Nation. The Department maintains a strong research program as well as a comprehensive educational program. Position Summary
Temporary Research Specialist to perform experiments with collections of freely-interacting walking droplets in pressurized system.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Management Preferences
  • Experience with experiments on vibrating tables or parametrically-forced fluid systems.
  • Proficiency in 3D resin printing, laser cutting, SolidWorks, Matlab, video acquisition or processing, Arduino code, LabVIEW, or PID controllers.
  • Experience with experiments using piezoelectric shakers, pressurized air, piezoelectric droplet generator, or static control.
