Job description

Overview

Responsible for completing assigned tasks relating to maintenance and repair of the organization's facilities and properties. This associate must have reliable personal transportation and be able to travel daily to various locations within the Washington, DC metropolitan area. The associate will perform strenuous work on a regular basis. The Associate must be able to work a regular Monday - Friday daytime schedule and a rotating on call schedule that includes evenings, weekends and/or holidays (including answering and dispatching emergency calls as needed).  This position is responsible and will be held accountable for behaving in accordance with divisional and organizational RISE values and expectations.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Under supervision, performs assigned maintenance tasks, which can involve plumbing, general handyman tasks (ex. dry walling, painting, fixture repair and assembly, etc.) 

2. Using company accounts, purchases repair and maintenance materials as needed. Maintains and stock supply inventory; gathers and compiles information.

3. Updates our computerized maintenance management system in a timely manner as assigned tasks are completed or issues arise that prevent completion. 

4. Tracks mileage and other reimbursable expenses and submits properly completed expense report at least once per month. 

5. Performs all assigned tasks in a safe, workmanlike manner, and in accordance with any local building code requirements. 

Other Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Clock in and out for work shifts and lunch on the company's timekeeping system. 2. Complete required monthly safety training and any other required training. 

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. One to Three years' of recent experience in maintenance that required driving between work locations.  3. Must have own reliable transportation and valid "clear" driver's license and be able to drive to any locations within the Goodwill market area. 4. Able to manage time effectively, including prioritizing assignments to ensure that the most critical work orders are completed in a timely manner. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

1. 3+ years of previous experience in general carpentry, plumbing, painting, and other general maintenance activities. 2. One to Three years' of recent experience in maintenance of a multi-unit commercial building or retail environment that required driving between work locations.
