RF Test Engineering Co-opAbout the Role

At Skyworks, you'll have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge RF front-end module technologies alongside experienced engineering professionals and subject matter experts. This internship/co-op provides hands-on experience in the development, testing, and evaluation of advanced RF products used in today's wireless communications systems.

As part of our engineering team, you will gain valuable industry experience, build technical expertise in electronics fundamantals,  RF and microwave engineering, and explore potential full-time career opportunities with Skyworks. Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Operate automated and semi-automated RF test systems and collect test data.
  • Perform measurements and characterization of RF products during Design Verification Testing (DVT).
  • Support test bench setup, equipment configuration, and calibration activities.
  • Conduct electrical and RF measurements including voltage, current, frequency, RF power, gain, and related performance metrics.
  • Perform pre-screening of evaluation boards to identify early failures and manufacturing issues.
  • Assist in building and maintaining test setups, harnesses, fixtures, and wiring.
  • Operate laboratory equipment such as:
    • Digital Multimeters
    • Oscilloscopes
    • Network Analyzers
    • Spectrum Analyzers
    • Power Supplies
  • Document test results and communicate findings to engineering teams.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the test and validation process.
Required Experience and Skills
Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a Community College, Technical School, or equivalent educational program.
  • Able to commit to a 6-month co-op/internship term.
  • Basic understanding of electronic circuit fundamentals, including:
    • Voltage
    • Current
    • Resistance
    • AC and DC circuits
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, particularly:
    • Microsoft Excel
    • Microsoft Word
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated eagerness to learn, grow, and make meaningful contributions.
  • Strong interest in Electronics, RF, Microwave Engineering, or related technical disciplines.
Desired Experience and Skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on laboratory experience working with electronic test equipment.
  • Understanding of amplifier concepts, including:
    • Gain

  • Exposure to RF and microwave fundamentals, including:

  • Familiarity with RF test equipment and measurement techniques.
  • Experience assembling, troubleshooting, or testing electronic hardware.

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
