Summary The City of Woodbury is seeking a dedicated and skilled Public Service Worker - Parks & Forestry (Forestry Emphasis) to join our Parks and Forestry Division. This position plays a key role in maintaining the community's high-quality parks system by performing a blend of forestry operations and general parks maintenance. The Park and Forestry Division mission critical high impact areas of responsibilities include but are not limited to: horticulture, turf, trails, forestry, athletic fields, ice rinks, courts, play equipment, parking lots, native areas, general park maintenance activities, and park building maintenance.

The position would also be involved in providing assistance to other divisions and departments as needed such as ice and snow control. This position will be required to work alternative schedules including evenings, early mornings, and weekends, as required for the city's maintenance operations. The Hiring Salary Range for the Public Service Worker - Parks (General with Forestry emphasis) is $33.65 - $34.91

The Full Salary Range for the Public Service Worker - Parks (General with Forestry emphasis) is $33.65 - $43.63. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Forestry Operations Perform tree maintenance activities including pruning, removals, planting, inspections, and storm response. Diagnose tree health concerns including pests, diseases, and structural defects

Safely operate forestry equipment such as chainsaws, pole saws, aerial lifts, chippers, stump grinders, tractors, and loaders. Assist with urban forest planning, tree inventory updates, and recordkeeping. Coordinate contractual arboriculture services as needed.

Provide guidance and direction to seasonal or full-time staff supporting forestry tasks. General Parks Maintenance Maintain park grounds, buildings, shelters, trails, athletic fields, courts, playgrounds, horticulture beds, native areas, and other amenities. Perform trash removal and litter collection throughout the parks system.

Clean, restock, and maintain park restrooms and related facilities. Assist with event preparation, park signage upkeep, and equipment maintenance. Perform snow and ice control on streets, trails, sidewalks, parking lots, and rinks.

Operate park maintenance equipment including mowers, tractors, skid-steers, trucks, and utility vehicles. Support special projects and assist other city divisions as needed. Essential Duties ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide leadership and contribute specialized skills and knowledge to the different Mission Critical areas of parks operations.

Employees will plan, complete, and record maintenance using traditional methods, work with suppliers to purchase operation supplies, conduct field inspections, and provide other expertise as required in the maintenance and inspection of mission critical areas. Will direct seasonals in all areas of parks operations in order to complete tasks in mission critical/high impact areas of parks operations. Perform all work in a safe and effective manner.

Daily work will be in the field and will include but is not limited to Mission Critical High Impact (MCHI) areas of work. Ability to coordinate contractual services in mission critical areas of Park maintenance. Ensure both workspaces and equipment are maintained at a high level of cleanliness.

Assist in all Mission Critical areas within the Parks Division. Perform all duties for snow and ice control within the Parks Division. Assist other divisions as needed, particularly during snow and ice control events.

Work with both full-time and seasonal employees in a professional manner. Train, give work direction to, and evaluate seasonal staff. Perform other duties as assigned.

Perform manual, semi-skilled, and skilled labor associated with but not limited to: Horticultural bed planting, trimming, maintenance and removal. Turf maintenance inspection, establishment, maintenance and repair. Athletic field installation, inspection, repair and maintenance.

Ice rink establishment, inspection and maintenance. Asphalt/natural trail installation, inspection, repair and maintenance. Tennis/basketball court inspection, repair and maintenance.

Forestry planting, trimming, removals, and maintenance. Native/natural area inspection and general maintenance. Playground equipment installation, inspection, repair and maintenance.

Parking lot inspection, repair and maintenance. General park inspection and maintenance activities required to maintain amenities such as, park signage, trash cans, picnic tables, benches, beach operations, and assist other divisions and departments in special event. Park building and picnic shelter cleaning, inspection, repair and maintenance.

Snow removal from and ice control of streets, park trails, parking lots, sidewalks, and rinks. General repair and maintenance of tools and equipment. Record keeping related to hours of work performed, location, and equipment used.

Assist in creating and maintaining inventories of all the divisions' facilities. Operate with a high degree of proficiency hand power tools and engine powered equipment in association with park maintenance and snow removal operations: Hand power tools, small engine powered equipment, hand pruners, hand saws, string trimmers and brush cutters. Utility tractors and attachments.

Light duty trucks, 3/4 and one-ton trucks, with and without dump bodies. Snowplows including large blowers mounted on trucks or tractors. Dump trucks used in maintenance projects, snow removal and ice control operations.

Skid-steer loaders and small front-end loaders. Utility trucksters with or without attachments. Fosters an inclusive work culture and advances the City's diversity, equity and inclusion goals.

Perform all other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned or apparent. Work overtime for snow and ice control, emergencies, projects and events. Work non-typical hours or shifts, including weekends, to perform required maintenance activities. Be able to read and understand correspondence, memoranda and materials.

Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver's license. CPR/First Aid Certification.

Possess or the ability to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver's License with required combination and air brakes endorsements within 6 months. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 2 years of experience in commercial or municipal arboriculture. ISA Certified Arborist.

Associate degree in arboriculture, horticulture, biology, or a related field, or comparable years of field experience. 2 years of experience in park maintenance or similar field. Tree Inspector Certification.
