Job description

Position Summary: The Landscape Shop Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a variety of landscaping equipment to ensure the grounds are well maintained and visually appealing. This role is crucial to ensure that all tools and equipment are in optimal working condition to support our landscape operations.

Pay Rate: The rate of pay listed on job boards are auto-generated numbers. Kiawah Island Golf Resort’s actual rate of pay will be determined during the hiring process.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Education – High School diploma or GED.
  • Minimum Age – 18 years or older due to the nature of the role.
  • Minimum Experience – Minimum of 6 months working in related field.
  • Held a full time position for 6 months or more within one position.
  • Must work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Good to Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have own transportation to and from the resort. 

 

Expectations & Responsibilities:

All aspects of landscape maintenance, which include, but are not limited to:

  • Follow checklists to ensure that all critical parts are examined monthly
  • Perform basic care and maintenance, including changing oil, checking fluid levels, and rotating tires, 2 stroke tune ups
  • Plan work procedures, using charts, technical manuals, and experience
  • Order and pick-up parts from vendors
  • Repair or replace worn parts, such as blades, ties and wheels
  • Perform repairs to manufacturer specifications
  • Explain equipment problems and repairs to staff
  • Assisting with our fleet maintenance team in repairs of our landscape vehicles
  • Policing grounds for trash, litter, and debris
  • Planting flower/shrub tree bed assistance with landscape team members
  • Enhancement bed maintenance and installation with heavy machinery
  • Installing drainage systems with heavy machinery
  • Pruning, mowing, chemical application, Irrigation Maintenance
  • Capable of using and training landscape heavy machine operation
  • Uphold the core values, policies, and procedures of the resort.
  • Able to use Microsoft apps to complete charts and tracking equipment procedures
  • All other duties, as assigned

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. across short-medium distances.
  • Must be able to stand for entirety of shift, while bending, stretching, and lifting.
  • Must be able to work in all-weather conditions, sometimes light rain or extreme heat.
  • Must be able to work on site due to daily needs of the job requirements.
