Now Hiring: Lateral Firefighter Paramedic
Location: South Jordan City Fire Department
Job Type: Full-Time (Rotating 48-Hour Shifts)

The City of South Jordan is hiring full time Lateral Firefighter Paramedics to join our Fire Department. This position provides emergency medical services, firefighting, and rescue support across a wide variety of incidents. If you're committed to public service, safety, and teamwork, we encourage you to apply. Eligible candidates must have at least one year of verifiable full-time experience as Firefighter Paramedic / EMT.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond to fire, rescue, medical, and hazardous materials emergencies
  • Provide advanced and basic life support; assess, treat, and transport patients
  • Perform fire suppression activities including search and rescue, ventilation, and overhaul
  • Operate and maintain firefighting and emergency medical equipment
  • Conduct life safety inspections, hydrant testing, and pre-incident planning
  • Deliver public education programs on safety and emergency preparedness
  • Participate in ongoing training, station maintenance, and equipment readiness.
  • Complete reports, documentation, and administrative tasks

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Utah Class D Driver License
  • Utah Paramedic license
  • Must have at least one year of verifiable, full-time firefighting experience
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advance Life Support Certification
  • CPR certification for healthcare providers
  • Utah Firefighter II and Hazardous Materials Operations certifications or ability to obtain
  • Must meet department physical ability standards

Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of emergency medical procedures, fire suppression tactics, and rescue operations
  • Proficient in the use of firefighting and EMS equipment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to make sound decisions in high-stress situations
  • Comfortable working in all weather conditions and high-risk environments

Work Conditions:
  • Exposure to hazardous conditions including fire, smoke, extreme temperatures, and traumatic incidents.
  • Requires physical strength, endurance, and mental resilience.
