Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Audio Video Engineer / Estimator to join our dynamic team. This role requires a deep understanding of commercial AV system design, engineering, and cost estimation. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Crestron, Extron, and other professional-grade AV systems, as well as a strong aptitude for translating project requirements into detailed technical solutions and cost proposals. Familiarity with D-Tools or similar AV design and quoting platforms is highly preferred.


Key Responsibilities

Engineering and Design

  • Design integrated AV systems for conference rooms, auditoriums, classrooms, and other commercial environments.
  • Develop system schematics, riser diagrams, and signal flow diagrams.
  • Select and specify AV components, ensuring compatibility and performance to client requirements.

Estimating and Proposal Development

  • Create accurate project estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, and third-party services.
  • Develop detailed scopes of work and assist in proposal generation.
  • Collaborate with sales, project managers, and vendors to refine proposals and optimize value.

Technical Expertise and Support

  • Configure and program AV control systems, especially Crestron and Extron platforms.
  • Support installation teams by providing detailed documentation and troubleshooting assistance.
  • Conduct site surveys and provide input on infrastructure requirements.

Documentation and Tools

  • Maintain accurate and organized documentation including bill of materials (BOM), as-built drawings, and change orders.
  • Utilize project management and design software; experience with D-Tools is preferred but not required.
  • Update and maintain project documentation throughout the lifecycle of the project.

Qualifications

Required

  • 3-5+ years of experience in AV system design and engineering.
  • Proficient in designing systems using Crestron, Extron, and other commercial AV platforms.
  • Strong understanding of AV signal types, infrastructure requirements, and cable management.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD or Visio for schematic creation.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.

Preferred

  • Experience with D-Tools SI (System Integrator) or similar AV project design/estimation tools.
  • CTS or CTS-D certification.
  • Experience with IP-based AV distribution and networked AV systems.
  • Knowledge of current industry standards and emerging technologies in AV.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel to client sites for surveys and meetings.
  • Must be able to lift and carry AV equipment when necessary.
  • May involve occasional after-hours or weekend work depending on project deadlines.
