Job description


Northwest Equine is a 100% ambulatory equine veterinary practice seeking a full-time Equine Client Services Representative & Veterinary Assistant to join our busy multi-doctor team. This unique position combines front-office client service responsibilities with hands-on veterinary assistant duties in the field. This role will be approximately 80% CSR work, and 20% field work. The ideal candidate is highly organized, professional, and adaptable, with a strong equine background and a passion for delivering exceptional care to both clients and patients. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy multitasking, and work collaboratively with veterinarians, support staff, and horse owners while maintaining a positive and service-oriented attitude
Client Services Responsibilities
• Answer multi-line phone system in a friendly, professional manner
• Schedule appointments and coordinate ambulatory veterinary services
• Manage client communications via phone, email, and text messaging
• Process invoices and payments
• Perform data entry and maintain accurate medical records
• Assist with client follow-up and appointment reminders
• Complete general office and administrative tasks
• Provide exceptional customer service to clients and referring partners
Veterinary Assistant Responsibilities
• Assist veterinarians with equine patient care, diagnostics, and treatments
• Prepare and stock veterinary vehicles for daily appointments
• Maintain inventory and supply levels
• Safely handle and restrain horses during examinations, procedures, and emergencies
• Assist with diagnostic testing, including radiography and laboratory procedures
• Administer medications under veterinarian supervision
• Clean, disinfect, and maintain trucks, equipment, and treatment areas
• Sterilize and maintain surgical instruments and medical equipment
• Support veterinarians during routine and emergency field calls
Qualifications Required
• Previous receptionist or customer service experience
• Knowledge of basic horse care and the equine industry
• Experienced horse handling skills, including: Trotting and lunging horses, safe handling of horses under sedation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Professional email, text, and client communication experience
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, multi-doctor environment
• Skilled in answering a multi-line phone system
• Ability to follow instructions while also working independently
• Basic computer proficiency and willingness to learn new software systems
• Strong attention to detail, grammar, and spelling
• Dependable transportation and valid Washington State driver's license
• Ability to safely lift and carry at least 50 pounds
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Genuinely enjoys working with animals and can work with them even when they are stressed, ill, or in pain
• Works well as part of a team and maintains a positive, collaborative attitude
Physical Requirements
• Frequently walk, stand, bend, squat, and lift throughout the workday
• Work safely around horses of varying temperaments
• Perform physical tasks in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions
• Meet the physical demands associated with ambulatory equine veterinary medicine
• Frequently work in a bent, kneeling, or squatting position • Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds safely
Schedule
• Full-time position; Monday-Friday schedule with hours varying based on practice needs
• Participation in evening and weekend on-call rotations may be required

Compensation & Benefits
The base hourly range for this position is $21.50-$26.00 per hour. Pay is determined by work location and additional factors including job-related skills, experience, education, and training.
