Job description

Ambulatory Equine Urgent Care Veterinarian

Full-Time or Part-Time

Front Range Equine Urgent Care
Berthoud, Colorado | 1 Full-Time or 2 Part-Time | Emergency & Ambulatory
Front Range Equine Urgent Care (FREUC) is seeking a passionate, confident full-time Equine Veterinarian or two part-time Equine Veterinarians to join our growing ambulatory urgent care practice in beautiful Northern Colorado.
We are an emergency-only, ambulatory practice, providing high-quality field-based urgent care between 5:00 AM and 10:00 PM, 7 days a week. FREUC fills a critical need by supporting horse owners when their primary veterinarian is unavailable, and we prioritize collaborative communication to ensure smooth transitions and follow-up care.
The Ideal Candidate

  • Confident in handling equine emergencies independently in the field and making critical care decisions
  • Excellent communicator and team player
    • Communicates effectively with FREUC team members, horse owners, and referring veterinarians
  • Professional and compassionate under pressure
  • Detail-oriented and self-directed in documentation and follow-through
Qualifications

  • DVM or equivalent degree
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in Colorado
  • Equine internship preferred, but not required
Why This Job Might Be Perfect for You

  • You’re looking for a focused, high-impact equine emergency role without the burden of routine wellness care.
  • You’ve been away from equine practice due to burnout or a switch to small animal medicine—and want back in, on your terms.
  • You enjoy high-paced, hands-on, practical veterinary work with autonomy and support.
  • You thrive on the challenge of acute cases and the ability to triage.
What We Offer

  • Flexible scheduling within fixed daily hours (5:00 AM – 10:00 PM)
  • Supportive team culture with streamlined case management
  • A unique, modern approach to equine emergency medicine
  • Mentorship — whether you're a newer graduate or returning to equine practice, we’re here to help you thrive
  • Competitive compensation based on experience and caseload
Compensation & Benefits
You can join us as either an employee or an independent contractor:

  • Flexible scheduling options:
    • Full-Time: 9-11 shifts/month (120 shifts/year)
    • Part-Time: 4–5 shifts/month (60 shifts/year)
