About The Role:
The days/hours for this position are: Thursday- Monday 10:00pm - 6:30am
The Quad Cities International Airport is looking for an eager applicant for the Custodial Worker position. Under
the direction of the Custodial Supervisor, the Custodial Worker is responsible for performing cleaning and routine maintenance of the terminal building and any areas immediately adjacent thereto.

Key Requirements:
  • Ability to pass a post-employment offer physical examination and drug screen.
  • Ability to pass a background investigation to obtain unescorted Airport Identification/Access privileges.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and possession of a valid driver's license.

Qualifications:
  • 1-2 years of related custodial/maintenance experience preferred.
  • Ability to learn FAA regulations and other federal, state and local regulations that affect maintenance and operations of an airport.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in order to interact with customers, tenants and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to use handheld and ground radios to effectively communicate and report physical location at all times, especially when inside restricted areas of airport grounds.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Sweeps, mops, scrubs, dusts, vacuums, strips and refinishes floors and shampoos and extracts all carpeting.
  2. Washes walls, windows and woodwork, cleans baggage conveyors, air and air return vents and restrooms, and replenishes supplies.
  3. Washes fluorescent lamps, louvers and fixtures and washes, cleans and polishes stainless steel, brass and other metals.
  4. Dusts and polishes furniture, desks, cabinets, windowsills, clocks, door ledges and computers.
  5. Empties trash and garbage containers.
  6. Provides set-up for all meetings and events held in the terminal.
  7. Responds to all calls from tenants for clean-up assistance.
  8. Removes snow from all walks, gates, around terminal building and areas immediately adjacent thereto to include spreading deicing chemicals to these areas.
  9. Cleans and restores all janitorial equipment after using.
  10. Unlocks Terminal Building, turns lights on/off as required and makes sure the building is generally secure.
  11. Maintains the appearance of all terminal wall/floor displays; i.e., advertising and antiques.
  12. Picks up and removes trash, cigarette butts and debris outside of the Terminal Building and adjacent planting areas.
  13. Responds to customers' and tenants' questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner.
