Job description

The Role

Moderna is seeking a SAP Inventory-to-Delivery Lead to design, scale, and support global logistics execution, inventory movement, 3PL integration, warehouse connectivity, cold chain distribution, transportation integration, and compliant delivery operations across SAP S/4HANA and connected digital platforms.

This role will support Moderna's commercial, clinical, and international distribution capabilities across the US, Europe, APAC, and other global markets. The role will partner closely with Supply Chain, Logistics, Warehouse Operations, Quality, Manufacturing, Commercial, Finance, Digital, 3PL partners, carriers, couriers, transportation providers, and external warehouse management system providers.

The ideal candidate will bring strong SAP Logistics Execution and SAP SD-LE experience, with depth in outbound delivery processing, inventory management, batch management, warehouse and 3PL integration, EDI/IDoc troubleshooting, cold chain distribution, courier/carrier integration, GxP compliance, and validated system delivery.

This is not a narrow SAP configuration role. It is a broader logistics technology leadership opportunity for someone who wants to help shape Moderna's global Inventory-to-Delivery digital capabilities across SAP and non-SAP platforms.

Moderna's distribution and logistics ecosystem continues to expand across products, markets, partners, warehouses, carriers, couriers, and geographies. As the business scales globally, Moderna needs strong SAP Inventory-to-Delivery leadership across the full flow from inventory availability through delivery creation, warehouse execution, picking, packing, batch determination, shipment, carrier/courier handoff, proof of delivery, inventory reconciliation, and downstream operational visibility.

This role will help shape how SAP S/4HANA, external warehouse management systems, 3PL platforms, transportation providers, courier networks, middleware, EDI, IDocs, analytics platforms, and AI-enabled capabilities work together as a scalable global logistics ecosystem.

The successful candidate will also help Moderna prepare for future SAP and digital logistics capabilities, including SAP S/4HANA upgrades, SAP Business Network for Logistics, SAP BTP, integration modernization, intelligent exception management, SAP Joule, SAP Business AI, automation, analytics, and improved supply chain visibility.

Here's What You'll Do

  • You will support global template design, SAP S/4HANA upgrade readiness, integration modernization, data/analytics enablement, and adoption of future SAP capabilities such as SAP BTP, SAP Business Network for Logistics, SAP Joule, SAP Business AI, and intelligent automation.
  • You will mentor and develop team members, helping grow SAP Logistics Execution, inventory management, warehouse integration, 3PL integration, cold chain distribution, and solution delivery capabilities.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
  • Lead SAP Inventory-to-Delivery solution design across logistics execution, inventory movement, outbound delivery processing, warehouse integration, 3PL integration, transportation integration, and cold chain distribution.
  • Design scalable global solutions that connect SAP S/4HANA with external WMS platforms, 3PL providers, transportation providers, courier networks, middleware, EDI, IDocs, APIs, analytics platforms, and custom applications.
  • Partner with Supply Chain, Logistics, Warehouse Operations, Quality, Manufacturing, Commercial, Finance, Digital, vendors, and external partners to translate logistics and distribution needs into scalable technology solutions.
  • Provide architecture and functional guidance across delivery creation, picking, packing, goods issue, shipment confirmation, advanced shipment notifications, proof of delivery, inventory reconciliation, batch determination, batch status management, and quality release integration.
  • Support 3PL and warehouse integration processes, including EDI and IDoc mappings for delivery creation, warehouse order execution, pick/pack confirmation, shipment confirmation, inventory updates, and proof of delivery.
  • Support courier, carrier, and transportation integrations for shipment routing, shipment tracking, delivery status updates, temperature-controlled shipment handling, and logistics exception visibility.

  • Participate in computer systems validation activities, including requirements definition, functional specifications, test script development, protocol execution, deviation resolution, and validation documentation.
  • Support global template design and rollout by balancing enterprise standardization with regional logistics, 3PL, carrier, courier, cold chain, and regulatory requirements.
  • Create clear solution artifacts including process flows, architecture diagrams, integration flows, data flows, option assessments, functional specifications, test scenarios, and decision documents.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify processes, reduce manual work, improve inventory accuracy, enhance partner visibility, strengthen controls, and improve delivery reliability.
Your Responsibilities Will Also Include
  • Supporting SAP S/4HANA upgrade readiness and helping evaluate new SAP capabilities relevant to logistics execution, warehouse integration, transportation integration, inventory management, and distribution operations.
