Cold Chain Technologies refer to the systems, equipment, and processes used to ensure that temperature-sensitive products, such as pharmaceuticals, food, and vaccines, are stored and transported within required temperature ranges. These technologies include specialized packaging, refrigeration units, monitoring devices, and logistics solutions that prevent product spoilage or degradation. Maintaining the integrity of the cold chain is critical for product safety and efficacy, especially in industries like healthcare and food distribution. Advances in cold chain technologies have improved the tracking, management, and efficiency of temperature-sensitive supply chains.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a cold chain technologies role?

To excel in a Cold Chain Technologies role, candidates typically need a background in supply chain management, logistics, or engineering, along with knowledge of temperature-sensitive product handling. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and effective communication set professionals apart in this field. These competencies ensure the safe and efficient transport of perishable goods, maintaining product integrity and regulatory compliance.

Job description

Description:

About Us

We are a global provider of temperature-controlled supply chain solutions, supporting pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and clinical research organizations worldwide.

With deep expertise in cold chain packaging, clinical supply logistics, and global distribution services, we help life science companies protect their most valuable products — from clinical trial materials to temperature-sensitive therapies.

We are expanding our presence in the North American market and are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager with strong industry knowledge and customer relationships in cold chain packaging and life sciences.

This is an opportunity for someone who understands the market, has established connections, and wants to leverage their expertise to build meaningful commercial growth.

Role Overview

We are looking for a commercially driven professional who can help introduce our cold chain packaging solutions to pharmaceutical companies, laboratories, clinical research organizations, and logistics partners across North America.

The ideal candidate is not a traditional transactional salesperson, but a market builder who understands customer challenges, can create trust, develop opportunities, and drive solutions from initial conversation to commercial partnership.

Key Responsibilities

1. Market Development & Customer Acquisition

  • Identify and engage potential customers in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, clinical research, and cold chain logistics sectors.
  • Develop relationships with decision-makers and key stakeholders.
  • Generate qualified sales opportunities and build a sustainable customer pipeline.

Target: Develop 15–20 qualified leads per month.

2. Customer Engagement & Solution Development

  • Introduce our cold chain packaging solutions and value proposition.
  • Understand customer requirements and provide appropriate solutions.
  • Coordinate technical discussions, sample requests, product evaluations, and customer feedback.

Target: Support 5–10 customer validation projects annually.

3. Commercial Development

  • Manage the sales process from initial engagement to customer approval and purchase order.
  • Collaborate with internal teams on pricing, logistics, technical support, and customer requirements.
  • Support customer onboarding and long-term account development.

Target: Achieve first-year sales of approximately USD $300K–500K.

Required Qualifications

Industry Experience

  • Proven sales or business development experience in:
  • Cold chain packaging
  • Pharmaceutical logistics
  • Life science supply chain
  • Temperature-controlled transportation solutions
  • Experience with companies such as:
  • Sonoco ThermoSafe
  • Pelican BioThermal
  • Cold Chain Technologies
  • Intelsius
  • Cryopak
  • Other related cold chain packaging providers
  • Strong understanding of the North American life science cold chain market.

Network & Market Access

  • Existing relationships with pharmaceutical companies, biotech companies, laboratories, logistics providers, distributors, or industry partners.
  • Ability to leverage professional networks and market connections to create new opportunities.
  • Experience working with customers in major life science hubs is preferred

Working Style

  • Self-driven, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Comfortable working remotely with global teams.
  • Willingness to collaborate regularly with teams across different time zones.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or clinical trial supply chain.
  • Existing LinkedIn network within the life science or cold chain industry.
  • Experience with international trade, logistics, or cross-border operations.
  • Ability to provide market insights and strategic recommendations for North American growth.

Compensation

We offer a flexible compensation structure based on experience and contribution:

  • Base consulting fee / retainer (depending on engagement model)
  • Performance-based commission
  • Higher commission structure available for candidates bringing qualified opportunities and proven market resources

Commission is calculated based on collected customer payments.

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a growing global life science supply chain company.
  • Help shape and develop our North American market strategy.
  • Work with innovative cold chain technologies supporting critical healthcare and clinical research programs.
  • Opportunity to create significant commercial impact with a flexible and entrepreneurial role.

Interested in building the future of life science cold chain solutions in North America? We would love to hear from you.
