What is a full time cold chain logistics?

A full time cold chain logistics job involves managing the transportation, storage, and distribution of temperature-sensitive products, such as pharmaceuticals, food, and chemicals. Employees in this field work to ensure that products remain within specific temperature ranges throughout the supply chain to preserve their quality and safety. This role typically includes coordinating shipments, monitoring temperature controls, and troubleshooting any issues that could compromise product integrity. Cold chain logistics professionals often use specialized equipment and technology to track and maintain optimal conditions. The job may also require compliance with industry regulations and standards.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full time cold chain logistics professional?

To thrive in Full Time Cold Chain Logistics, you need expertise in supply chain management, temperature-sensitive product handling, and regulatory compliance, often supported by a degree in logistics or related certifications. Familiarity with cold chain monitoring systems, refrigerated transport technology, and inventory management software is typically required. Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and effective communication are essential soft skills for success in this role. These skills ensure product integrity, regulatory adherence, and timely delivery, all of which are critical for industries like pharmaceuticals and food.

What are some common challenges faced in a full time cold chain logistics role, and how are they typically addressed?

Professionals in full-time cold chain logistics often face challenges such as maintaining strict temperature controls during transportation and storage, coordinating timely deliveries to prevent spoilage, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. These challenges are typically addressed by using advanced temperature monitoring technologies, establishing clear communication protocols with suppliers and carriers, and following standardized operating procedures for handling perishable goods. Continuous training and collaboration with cross-functional teams such as quality assurance and transportation help mitigate risks and ensure product integrity.

Job description

Motive Workforce is partnering with a growing commercial transportation electrification company to hire a Sales Director focused on expanding its national customer base across refrigerated transportation and cold-chain logistics
.
This is a hands-on sales role with a path to build and lead a team as the company grows. The right person already has strong relationships in this market and knows how to turn those relationships into business.

What You'll Do
  • Develop new business with national food distributors, grocers, refrigerated fleets, and cold-chain operators.
  • Expand relationships across TRU and refrigerated trailer dealer networks.
  • Reach key decision-makers and develop large national accounts.
  • Own the sales process from initial outreach through purchase order and contract execution.
  • Work closely with executive leadership, engineering, and operations throughout the sales process.
  • Help build the commercial strategy and eventually grow and lead the sales team.

Established industry relationships are the priority. We're looking for someone who can pick up the phone, reach the right people, and get a meeting.

Your network may be on either side of the market:
  • National food distributors, grocers, refrigerated fleets, or cold-chain operators, or
  • TRU and refrigerated trailer dealers, including Thermo King and Carrier dealer networks.

You should also bring:
  • 10+ years of sales or business development experience within commercial transportation.
  • Experience developing and closing national accounts.
  • Knowledge of refrigerated transportation, trailers, TRUs, fleet equipment, or closely related markets.
  • A strong record of personally opening and closing new business.
  • Willingness to travel frequently for face-to-face customer meetings, including occasional short-notice travel.
  • Ability to work independently in a growing company.

Commercial vehicle electrification or battery experience is valuable, but deep relationships within refrigerated transportation are more important.

The Opportunity
The company has technology in production and is expanding the markets it can serve. You'll join at a stage where you can directly influence national growth, work closely with executive leadership, and build a sales organization around the business you help create.

Compensation: $150,000–$170,000 first-year base plus uncapped commission.
