Location:

Hybrid in Jacksonville, FL 3 days in the office

Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 8am – 5pm

 

What work will you perform?

The Manager, Expedited and Cold Chain Services, is responsible for being a liaison between various stakeholders involved in Expedited and Cold Chain business opportunities. In this role you will manage a team focused on using data analysis to support business development for Landstar’s specialty freight transportation services. The ability to network and build relationships along with experience in analyzing transportation and logistics data will be the foundations of your success.  You will motivate and train staff to ensure work meets deadlines and accuracy expectations.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and maintain auditable ISO 9001 compliance for the department including procedures, work instructions, and training.
  • Obtain, organize and use data from a variety of systems and sources on historical shipments, internal master data, third party providers, recruiting department tools, Salesforce, and customer files to develop sustainable and measurable department KPIs and project status updates.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain educational materials to grow organizational knowledge, awareness, and understanding of the nuances associated with safe and secure transport of specialty freight services that require special planning, pricing, considerations, and orchestration such as temperature sensitive cargo, pharmaceuticals, high value cargo, and project cargo.
  • Collaborate internally with stakeholders to develop and implement educational and oversight capability for our Landstar operational agency locations across the country and our premium service BCOs and carriers.
  • Memorialize examples of missed opportunities, gaps, success stories, and failure related to available user tools and resources for the purpose of writing business requirement documents, user stories, and business use cases for technology enhancement projects.
  • Collect, organize, research and present options that resolve issues for agents, BCOs and/or services providers.
  • Grow and maintain strong relationships with and between agents, BCOs, third party service providers, internal departments, field teams, and regional teams.
  • Monitor customers and temperature sensitive pharmaceutical industry for expectation and regulatory changes that require updates be made to our program materials for cold chain freight transportation services.
  • Learn, compare, and maximize effective use of software solutions for temperature monitoring, location tracking, and shipment data entry,
  • Support Agents, BCOs, Corporate Sales, Region and Business development efforts on opportunities.

Required Minimum Experience and Education:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 5 years of experience in transportation/logistics industry

Preferred Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor degree
  • 2 years of experience with expedited or cold chain transportation
  • 1 year of experience in operations and pricing expedited and/or cold chain transportation

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 specifically in a hybrid work environment.
  • Ability to determine, analyze, and communicate root causes of operational and business issues.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and analyze transportation-related information received verbally, electronically, or in written formats.
  • Professional demeanor with ability to form collaborative relationships between and with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead discussions and develop effective relationships with employees and external parties in a hybrid work environment of in person and virtual meeting spaces.
  • Ability to create and deliver effective presentations in both virtual and in-person settings.
  • Ability to observe, retain, organize, and categorize information for appropriate follow-up actions.
