Job description

As a CDL Delivery Trainee (Delivery Helper II), you will be responsible for assisting delivery drivers in unloading, lifting and carrying products. Excellent customer service is an essential aspect of position as you will be frequently interacting with Columbia Distributing employees, client managers and associates. This position may also be expected to work independently on your own delivery route to help merchandise our clients products, mainly in convenience store settings, reliable transportation is required in this position.

This position is designed for those who are interested in a CDL Driver career pathway and carry an active CLP.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Delivery Driver on assigned route, delivering and merchandising Company's products in a safe, timely and professional manner
  • Ride with Drivers or follow daily schedule as outlined by manager
  • Assist with working product to the shelf or back-stock area per accounts' needs
  • Rotate all Company's product according to Company standards
  • Develop and maintain positive, cooperative and team-oriented relationships with co-workers, supervisors, managers and others you come into contact with throughout your job
  • Adhere to and follow all Company policies, procedures and governmental regulations
  • Adhere to all state liquor laws and regulations
  • Provide excellent customer service to all assigned accounts
  • Demonstrate behaviors consistent with those of the Company's Core Values at all times
  • Complete all other tasks or projects as assigned

Work Environment

This job operates indoors and outdoors.

Physical Demands

Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, days and hours of work vary and may include weekends; overtime may be required.

Travel

Local travel only

Required Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and auto insurance required
  • CDL Class A permit required (CLP)

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Previous grocery or retail experience
  • Pervious merchandising experience
