Job Description

ย General Summary

We are actively seeking an experienced, board-certified (or board-eligible) Non-Invasive Cardiologist to build and lead a newly developing service line in a community with growing demand and strong administrative support.

This is a full-time, hospital-employed opportunity designed for a physician who is passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centered cardiovascular care in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. This position offers the unique chance to make a significant impact as the first cardiologist on staff, with infrastructure and support in place for long-term program growth.

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Non-invasive only - no interventional cardiology
  • Inpatient rounding on 14 patients/day with 3-4 new consults/day
  • Outpatient clinic includes stress testing, echos, carotid dopplers, TEEs, and cardiac imaging (hospital-based reads only)
  • Elective procedures available
  • Call: Shared and flexible - approximately 7 days/month
  • EKG responsibilities flexible and open for discussion
  • Hospitalist support model in development for cardiology admissions and inpatient management
  • No APPs initially, but hiring anticipated as volume grows
  • Emphasis on work-life balance with supportive leadership and sustainable scheduling
  • Single clinic site and inpatient rounding exclusively at UM Charles Regionalย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย 
  • ย Professional Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality, cost-effective, and efficient care in ambulatory and inpatient settings
  • Maintain accurate and complete records in accordance with hospital standards
  • Support and promote the mission, values, and strategic goals of UM Charles Regional
  • Participate in quality improvement and disease management initiatives
  • Supervise and collaborate with non-physician clinical staff
  • Comply with institutional and regulatory policies including coding, billing, and documentation standards
  • Represent the department through community outreach, education, and engagement activities
  • Collaborate with administration to adapt practice styles to support patient satisfaction and access
  • Foster a courteous and professional environment and promote positive patient interactions

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Possesses and maintains current license to practice medicine in the State of Maryland required.ย 
  • Possesses and maintains current Board Certification within practicing specialty required.
  • Possesses and maintains current DEA or similar Narcotics and Controlled Substances Certification required.
  • Possesses and maintains, if applicable, appropriate clinical privileges at a minimum of one UMMS affiliated acute care facility.
  • Demonstrates meeting minimum CME requirements for licensure and board certification.
  • Demonstrates appropriate qualifications and experience to perform the duties required of this position.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of post-training clinical experience - Orthopedic MD.ย

ย ย Highly effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to communicate effectively with all levels hospital staff, patients, visitors, and levels of staff.
